This delightful apartment is situated on the third floor of an old building on a quiet side street between Plaza Ayuntamiento and Plaza de la Reina. It has traditional tiled floors, shuttered windows and high ceilings. We have updated the apartment but retaining all the character of the original building. Good quality furniture and fittings and an eclectic mix of pictures, plants, books and DVDs combine to create an apartment that is both highly individual and comfortable to stay in.

The apartment is ideal for a couple or a small family. The main bedroom is large and airy, with a striking handmade oak bed, and study area with wifi. There is a second bedroom - a small interior room with a fitted double box bed, which can accommodate two adults and is perfect for older children. The kitchen is well equipped with a full sized oven and ceramic hob and lots of good quality utensils, pans etc so that guests can take full advantage of the extraordinary central market just round the corner. Rather than air conditioning, ceiling fans have been installed as the flat is naturally cool with its high ceilings and thick walls. They add less to environmental pollution and provide a more pleasant environment. There are very efficient radiators for the cooler months.
The Valenciana region
Valencia enjoys a Mediterranean climate so that even in winter the days are mostly bright and sunny. It is renowned for its exuberant nightlife and party spirit and since the America's Cup took place in 2007 ithere has been a real sense of excitement and buoyancy.
The port and broad sandy beach of Malvarrosa are within easy striking distance of the city and will provide the setting for the Grand Prix in August 2008. In 2009 the America's Cup returns. It's a great place for a weekend break but a longer stay provides an opportunity to really get to know the city.
As the apartment is so centrally located, walking in any direction will bring you to places of interest. Turn left out of the front door heading south towards Plaza de la Ayuntamiento with its splendid main post office and beyond the modernista Estacion del Norte; or west, across Calle San Vicente where every procession seems to pass, you’ll find the central market, one of the largest in Europe. Opposite the market is La Lonja the elegant medieval silk exchange.
A short step north takes you to Plaza de la Reina, crammed with outdoor cafes and dominated by the cathedral. Moving on from there you reach barrio del Carmen, the hub of the city’s nightlife. Turn right from the apartment and round the corner to the east is the exuberant Palace de Dos Aguas which houses the ceramics museum, over the top boutiques, and the old university building leading on to the main shops on Calle Colon.

"Excellent location, great apartment"
Stayed here for long weekend, the apartment is in a great location in the heart of the city. We really felt in the centre of activity but the apartment was quiet and we were not disturbed by any noise. The facilities are good. Well equipped kitchen, clean everywhere and lovely to sit and relax under the effective ceiling fans in the morning with the sun coming through the windows. Just the break we needed. The owner, Alistair was excellent at sending information before our trip and responding to queries and met us on arrival to handover keys, great service. Wi Fi not available at the moment at the apartment, but is available outside the cafe downstairs for the price of a nice cold beer. Valencia is a great city with lots to see, good places to eat and the fantastic beach a short metro ride away. We'll be visiting again and have told a few friends about it too.
