Description

Great location with balconies overlooking a tiny park, in a central residential neighbourhood with small shops, restaurants and cafes. Great transport links, a few minutes from both railway stations and 3 metro stations, so easy access to the beach.

We bought Ermita in June 2003 and lived there ourselves for three years. We still stay there when we're in Valencia, so it has very much the feel of home. The building dates back to the thirties and is pretty much untouched. We immediately liked the feel of the place and the fact that, unlike many older Spanish apartments, it was full of natural light.

As a couple we found the flat was a perfect size for us. When we're there we feel completely in tune with the rhythm of the city. There is some traffic noise but it's never bothered us. It just seems part of the experience of being there. Our apartment is on the second floor on the corner. Both the sitting room and bedroom have small balconies overlooking a tiny park. It's the

Location description from owner

The Valencian Country region

Valencia is a great place for a weekend break but a longer visit will give you a chance to really get to know this lively and vibrant city. With its own Mediterranean micro-climate, even in winter the days remain mostly sunny and bright. There is lots to do and see and the beach and port are easy to get to using the excellent public transport system. A little further out is the Albufera national park with the lovely beaches of El Saler and La Devesa.

Valencia

The city centre is compact so that all the central sights and shops are within easy walking distance. From the apartment a short walk will take you to central shopping area around Calle Colon or to Barrio Carmen which is packed with bars and restaurants. Valencia is rightly known as a party town but it is also a very safe place to be out and about at night.

“Let down”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2016

I booked the apartment for 15 nights from 11th – 26th may. Being a returning guest I knew what to expect when I got there. On my arrival and to my horror I found the whole building surrounded with scaffold and major works going on. I contacted the owner and holiday lettings to make them aware of the situation. The owner assured me he was unaware of the work being done. There was constant noise, I had no access to either of the terraces and for my own privacy had to keep the curtains closed at all times. After a stressful four days I was transferred to another flat by the owner. On my return to the UK I had to contact the owner on numerous occasions to speed up the return of my deposit. After 23 days this was duly done along with a partial refund for my 4 days at Ermita. Having to chase up the return of a deposit is not good business practice and this should be addressed by the owner.

Unfortunately we were visiting family in Costa Rica when Mike informed us of the problem with scaffolding on the outside of the building. We immediately tried to find him alternative accommodation which he rejected. As soon as our other apartment became available we transferred him there. We did not charge him for the 4 nights he stayed in Ermita and did not charge him any extra for staying in a larger apartment. We even paid for his taxi to transfer from one apartment to the other. The scaffolding has now gone and everything back to normal!
