The rare beauty of this village attracts many foreigners for the last 20 years, however Uzumlu remains an authentic working village relying on agriculture and traditional crafts.

The heart of Uzumlu is the village square, gives you a unique insight into authentic rural Turkey. Charm of a traditional woven style called Dastar still is seen in most of the houses. On looms found in most homes, a local pure cotton material, Dastar is woven by the village women.

You will find a variety of shops, restaurants and bars each with its own special ambiance. Also in the village there is a bakery, street market every Friday, a barber, a car hire centre and a post office.

The friendly and helpful locals are always on hand if needed and the variety of produce grown, such as grapes, olives, pomegranates, peach, figs and walnuts. The list is endless including organic local meat and eggs, homemade cheese and butter and is always available for you. You can also find special, delicious, home made wine all over Uzumlu.

Uzunyurt

The Uzumlu areaUzumlu is an unspoilt traditional Turkish working village -- like stepping back in time. The hub of Uzumlu village is the village square, and dotted around the square you will find the local mosque and local stores., arts and crafts -where you can actually watch the locals weaving on their looms in cotton, silk and wool, a bakery and it has a Friday market where you can buy local produce, situated just outside the mosque. Uzumlu is known for it's fine grapes and the word "Uzum" means grapes, so why not taste the local wine, eat some Turkish cuisine at some of the restaurants in Uzumlu or if you want a more informal environment why not try the local "Pide" pizza or have a bite to eat at the local Uzumlu cafe and bar.
