Location description from owner

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

This stretch of the Turkish coastline is known as the Turkish Riviera or Turquoise Coast. The area around Fethiye is one of Turkeys most beautiful, offering a perfect mix of beach resorts, mountain scenery and small rural villages. The famous Olu Deniz beach with its stunning blue lagoon is renowned as the most beautiful beach in Turkey, The lagoon is like a large lake, very calm, ideal for children with is gently shelving waters. The Turquoise Coast is without doubt one of the most beautiful areas in which to relax and unwind. From the backdrop of the Taurus mountains the coast is full of beautiful beaches, crystal clear turquoise seas, stunning scenery, numerous places of interest and ancient sites full of history and culture. The area has something for everyone, the thrills of white water rafting and ringo riding down the stunning Saklikent Gorge, paragliding off Babadag mountain in Olu Deniz, or why not visit the Dalyan mud baths. For those who enjoy historical sights why not visit Ephesus and Pamukkale, or the nearby ancient ruins of Kadyanda (20 mins from the villa). For the less adventurous and those who wish to relax why not take a boat trip out of Fethiye or Olu Deniz, sit back, relax and have lunch cooked for you.The choices are endless and you will wish to come back time after time.

Yesiluzumlu

The village of Uzumlu is one of spectacular natural beauty, set in a valley surrounded by dense pine forests and rugged hillsides. Villa Moonflower is ideally situated just behind the village centre and is within a 5 minute walk of the village amenities (dolmus (local bus), mini markets, barbers, butchers and bakery). Uzumlu is 500m above sea level and the cool mountain breezes are more than welcome especially in the summer. The village has managed to retain all of the natural charm and character of a traditional Turkish village whilst having the convenience of a modern town of Fethiye which is a twenty minutes drive away. The relaxed village atmosphere is where you can experience the real Turkey quiet and unspoilt and is ideal for those looking for a little peace and quiet, breathtaking scenery and the enchantment of rural life. Uzumlu has shops supplying local produce, a post office, a selection of restaurants, and a local market on Fridays. Fethiye is an all year round working town and is a mixture of market town, port and holiday resort. On the hill above is a castle built for the Knights of Saint John and there are 2 simple rock tombs on the eastern face of the hill. Every Tuesday there is a huge open air market near the marina selling everything from clothes, shoes, household goods, gifts and food. Great to practice your bartering skills! The harbour and marina is bordered by palm tree lined promenades and back streets filled with shops, bars and restaurants, yielding bargains, gastronomic delights and bustling night life. The town is lined with shops galore as well as a maze of little side streets offering many hidden treasures. At night there are a good selection of bars, cafes and restaurants offering local and international cuisine. You will also find discos and cinemas in Fethiye town centre. For a much livelier resort you can visit Hisaronu with its wide choice of shops, restaurants and late night bars, market day is every Monday. Nearby is the deserted village of Kayakoy which was a Greek settlement founded at the beginning of the 14th century. It was evacuated during the Turkish-Greek war of 1919 to 1923 hence its nickname 'The Ghost Town'. It's well worth a visit and the more energetic of you can walk there through the pine forests. The world renowned resort of Olu Deniz 'the blue lagoon' with its sheltered beach and lagoon is ideal for children and swimming and is a short distance away from Fethiye. Here you can wander around the shops, sit and have a drink in one of the many sea front cafes and watch the para-gliders land on the beach. Calis beach is 20 mins drive from the Villa and is famous for its stunning sunsets, cooling breezes and beautiful long beaches of shingle and sand which stretches across the bay to Fethiye. Here the loggerhead turtles are known to breed. The seafront and area around Calis is flat and therefore suitable for strolling along the promenade deciding which of the many restaurants and bars in which to watch the world go by.

“Fabulous luxury villa in friendly traditional Turkish village.”

Reviewed 14 Aug 2013

This is a beautiful modern villa with high quality furnishings and fittings and immaculate pool which is maintained daily by the extremely helpful agents. Uzumulu village is traditionally Turkish with friendly locals and some excellent restaurants, notably Eddy's Place, Selale restaurant and LupLup Cafe. Highlight of the holiday was a private boat trip from Fethiye. Would definitely recommend.

We are really pleased you enjoyed the villa and your holiday, we hope to see you again.

“Excellent villa, beautiful setting”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2013

We stayed here for 2 weeks in July and wow the villa is stunning everything you could wish for. Gorgeous swimming pool with stunning views. The village of uzumulu is really nice just a short walk from the villa. Thoroughly enjoyed my holiday to villa moonflower and can't wait to return.

Thank you for your comments, we are really pleased you enjoyed the villa and your holiday and we look forward to seeing you again.

“What a lovely villa in a wonderful location”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2012

The villa had everything we needed and the views were stunning. A bit of a climb up the hill from the village but well worth it. The villa was very private as the next door villa is unoccupied. Best shower was the one on the ground floor, the water pressure deteriorated the higher up you went! The pool area was lovely and got the sun from about 9.30 in the morning until sunset. Karen and Peter were so helpful. The local restaurants are all good but our favourite was the restaurant over the public loos in the village! The menu is limited but the family are lovely and the food excellent. The locals are so friendly and make you feel so welcome often giving you gifts of fruit and always saying hello. Can't wait to go back to Uzumlu, the perfect holiday retreat.

Thank you for your lovely comments and we are pleased you enjoyed your holiday at Villa Moonflower - hopefully we will see you again!

“Villa Moonflower - Uzumlu, Turkey”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2011

A very comfortable 3 bed, 4 bathroom villa with swimming pool. Both Karen & Pete very helpful & nothing is too much trouble. Uzumlu is a good base for Patara, Olu Deniz, Cadianda, Seklikent Gorge all of which are a must. Karen comes & changes the towels & bedlinen, Pete comes & does the pool every morning. This is our 3rd visit to the area & it does not disappoint, eating out is very reasonable, our favorite is above the public loo's (trust me I know the location sounds bad but def worth it) & then the Alya. For the men leave your razor at home & go down to Ramizan for a shave. If you like busy & bustling this is not for you.

Thank you for your lovely comments for Villa Moonflower, it was lovely to see you again and look forward to seeing you next year.
