Location description from owner

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

The Lycian/Turquoise coast is very historical, there are many places of interest with stunning scenery, Olu Deniz, Ovacik, Hisaronou, Calis and Fethiye to name but a few and are all within easy reach of the Villa. The Villa is surrounded by mountains, less than a 5 minute walk from the village square. The air is pure and extremely good for asthmatics. The water is pure mountain water. There is access to several markets, Friday market in Uzumlu, Sunday market in Calis and a Tuesday market in Fethiye. The climate in Uzumlu is about 5 degrees cooler than in built up areas such as Fethiye therefore making it the perfect climate in July and August. The Villa is set in its own grounds, not on a complex, so total privacy is on your own doorstep.

Yesiluzumlu

The Villa is situated in the centre of the village and extremely convenient for supermarkets and restaurants most of which are less than a 3/5 minute stroll from the Villa. Also, on a short stroll from the Villa you can watch the Turkish weavers producing the local Dastar fabric. Most houses have a loom and the ladies will willingly show you how the fabric is made. Turkish hospitality means you are likely to be offered something to eat or drink. In return, they would like you to buy a souvenir, but there is, most definitely, no pressure to buy, you will just be experiencing the true culture of Turkey and a real feel for the life in the village. Cadianda is an historical site just outside Uzumlu. There are a few bars and restaurants around with this name as the site is quite famous and well worth visiting. There is also the Friday market, where you will buy incredible tasting fruit and vegetgables all of which organically grown. We also have a beauty salon, Kuafor Ozan, offering hairdressing, manicures, pedicures, waxing, massage and much more - all very keenly priced!

“Perfect Villa - Excellent Location”

Reviewed 11 Sep 2014

Simply a perfect villa, close enough to the village and far enough from the town. Very well equipped and comfortable, and spotlessly clean on arrival. The 'invisible' daily pool service and garden tidying make it look new every day. Being up in the hills makes it a little cooler and more pleasant than down at the coast, and the extensive grounds and multiple sitting areas mean you can always fine sun or shade to suit yourself. Less than 5 minutes walk to the village with a range of small supermarkets and a bakery and a variety of restaurants, all of which were very friendly. Use the recommended car hire company for a hassle free experience although driving in Turkey was a new and exciting experience. You have to try it to understand.

Thank you for your excellent review of our villa. Thank you also for the detailed notes on the various places of interest visited by you and your family of which, we are certain, future guests will find most helpful. It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay as guests at our villa.

“Booked a return visit immediately”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2012

This is one of the few villas that are situated within a very short walking distance from the village centre, so no need to take the car out to do the shopping or visit one of the many restaurants in the evening. It is well maintained with plenty of crockery and cutlery and a dishwasher to hand. The beds are comfortable and there is plenty of storage space for clothing. There is a small safe but no wi-fi availability in the house itself but is available in the restaurant just down the road. Outside there is a reasonable sized pool which is well maintained and quite deep, and the seating ares around has six very comfortable loungers, a number of good quality umbrellas, and more than adequate small poolside tables with plenty od shaded areas. There is no view worth mentioning but it is secluded and quiet with very little in the way of noise from the nearby village. The access road is a bit of a test !! We only drive up to the house when we arrive and depart in order to manage the luggage, but there is plenty of parking space about a hundred yards from the house. We enjoy being in the centre of the village with very few other tourists around but Fethiye is only a 20 minute drive away or there is a regular dolmus service available if one doesn't have a car - we hardly used ours as we were quite happy relaxing at the villa or wandering around the village. This year was our third visit to Uzumlu and we've already booked the villa for 2013.

“A wonderful place to stay and meet the Locals”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2012

We booked the Villa in August for 3 weeks. We travelled with 3 children aged 11 and 9 who had a wonderful time. The villa is situated in the centre of the village and getting around the village is easy. There are a choice of restaurants and bars. The bakery for freshly baked bread was excellent as the choice of shops for your daily needs and all the people could not have help enough . The villa and pool is well maintained and the scenery from the villa is scenic. The children had a lovely time in the pool and playing around in the garden. You must take a walk around the village and meet the locals as we did on a numerous occasions and see for your self how friendly the locals are. We hired a car and travelled to fethiye calis and hisaronu which we found very easy to get to.We also visited some beach/coves that the locals visit and not many tourist have yet discovered. The villa was ideal for our family and we will definitely be visiting again. Hopefully will be back next or the following year! George Purewal and family ( Coventry).
