COMFORTABLE TOWN HOUSE WITH VIEWS >>
The 18th century town house has just been renovated and features a loggia with a kitchen and rare views of the towers of the ducal palace, the so-called Duché.

Apart from the loggia, the house has a comfortable first floor sitting room, a bedroom with a toilet and sink on the second floor, and a wet room with shower, storage and a washing machine.

There's a TV with international channels, free wifi, free calls to land lines in Europe and North America, and a bicycle that you are welcome to use.

A good friend jokingly calls the decorative style "modern monastic". I've worked hard to retain and highlight the old stone walls, beams and other features and decorated

A good friend jokingly calls the decorative style "modern monastic". I've worked hard to retain and highlight the old stone walls, beams and other features and decorated it with mainly Scandinavian furniture.

Please take note that the house has four levels and stairs must not be a problem for you.

EASY PARKING >>
Paid outdoor parking (€3.60 a day) is a two minute walk away behind the archbishop's palace. Paid subterranean parking (€10 a day) is also a two minute walk on the Boulevard. For free parking you'll have to walk about five minutes to the rue Saint-Firmin area.

UZÈS: GATEWAY TO BEAUTY, HISTORY >>
No. 2 on The Guardian's Holiday Hotspots: Where To Go in 2014, Uzès is often called "the Frenchman's own holiday paradise." Experience and enjoy Uzès' Utopian relaxed charm: narrow streets with carefully restored houses, tree-lined squares with medieval arcades and an abundance of cafes, restaurants and chic shopping.

It's an easy place to stay content but also a perfect base for day trips in an area packed with cultural and natural gems, including Mediterranean beaches, Avignon, Nimes, Montpellier, the Camargue, Aix-en-Provence, Baux-de-Provence, Arles and Marseille.

In actual fact, once visitors arrive in Uzès most prefer to stay put. In the words of another friend: "Uzès is a trap. You'll never leave." Many return again and again - and some of us fall so much in love we end up getting a second home.

“Room with a View”

Reviewed 3 Apr 2016

Wonderful accommodation in the magical town of Uzès, France. The flat has all conveniences needed, perfect for the solo traveller - the only thing missing was a hair dryer. I had the good fortune of meeting my host, Alexander, in person, he is most helpful and knowledgeable about the area. My emails were answered almost instantly. The markets in Uzès are excellent, walking is so easy. I hope to return soon.

“My first choice for a return stay in Uzès town”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2014

I have been back from Alexander's Uzès house for a couple of weeks now, and the nine-night stay continues to comfort and inspire. It was the perfect spot for a working retreat, with everything close to hand, yet quiet and private. The layout is rather like a medieval tower, so be mindful that there are many stairs, but you will be rewarded with a large picture window framing the rooftops and the handsome Duchy Tower. This bijoux house is simply appointed with style typical of this elegant town. And Alexander was the most gracious of hosts, always on hand before, during and after my stay. If you have never visited Uzès before, Alexander has compiled a comprehensive guide, and he publishes a dynamic website with local updates. I couldn't have been happier. This will be my first choice for a return stay in Uzès.

“Very charming place to stay”

Reviewed 5 Oct 2013

Since the appartment where we stayed in Uzès the years before was not free we where looking for another nice place - and it quickly was no question that this should be Alexanders charming little house in the heart of the Village. And indeed: The nice pictures on his advertisment don't promise too much: Everything is arranged very tastefully, and we found a place in which we felt at home directly. Espacially the room on the top with the great window and the view over the roofs is very attractive. It's nice sitting there just enjoying the sight. Everything what we needed was there, and everything was clean and cultivated. According to the contact I just can give back what Alexander said: From the very first moment it was like talking to a friend: Alexander always answered very quick and open minded, obliging and kind, so it was not only a pleisure to be his guest, but also to communicate with him. We had been in best hands! What we enjoyed also was the fact, that everything we needed was just round the corner: A bakery, a charming tea salon, the market, restaurants and so on. And in almost the same time we found ourselves in the nature if we wanted to. Espacially for me it was great I could reach the swimming bath in less then five minutes. Above all the neighbours have been very kind, and after a short time I felt as if I lived there for a while. Not to forget the nice cats in the arrounding :-) All in all, dear Alexander: We hope we stay in contact and have the possibility to come back as soon as possible. Thanks for everything, Birgit & Peter
