Location description from owner

The Balearic Islands region

Menorca is a very green island very different to the Costas of Southern Spain, this is due to its temperate climate. The holiday season runs from the beginning of May through to the end of October. June, July and August are normally the hottest months and the busiest. June is a glorious month to visit as the wild flowers on the island are in bloom and the temperature is warm and pleasant, May and June are ideal if you have small children and don't want it too hot. Menorca is the second largest of the Balearic Islands and is also known for being the least developed with more beaches than either Majorca or Ibiza. It has many beautiful beaches, some only accessible by boat.Places well worth a visit:Monte Toro is the highest point on the island with the most spectacular views on a clear day of the entire island.Mahon the capital of Menorca, has one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Good value boat (glass bottom) trips around the harbour are available and last for just over one hour. Gin is made on Menorca and you will find the main Gin Factory down by the harbour opposite the Ferry terminal. At night Mahon twinkles with all its restaurants and bars, plus all the beautiful yachts moored in the harbour, a stunning place to spend the evening.Ciutadella is the old capital of Menorca and is very pretty, it has a lovely harbour, narrow streets and is a great place to visit.

Arenal d'en Castell

Arenal d'en Castell is on the North Coast and is a favourite resort with families and couples wanting a relaxing holiday. The horseshoe bay with its gently shelving soft sand beach is extremely safe. It's ideal for small children and non-swimmers. Nightlife is low key and revolves around restaurants and bars. The beach is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the villa. A wooden walkway has now been built at the back of the beach to aid people with buggies etc.Coves Noves is an extension of Arenal and has its own bars, restaurants, children's entertainment area, bicycle hire and Tennis Club. Our nearest supermarket is in the Coves Noves main area. The old fishing village of Na Macaret with its small sandy beach and Addaia with its marina are also within easy reach.During the summer months there is a small road train which runs a regular service from Arenal through Coves Noves and on to Na Macaret (and return) picking up passengers from designated stops on its way. This is a lovely leisurely way to see more of the surrounding area if you do not have a car. There is also a regular public bus service from Arenal to Mahon or Arenal to Fornells during the summer - the bus fare is very reasonable.

As we returned to this property you could probably guess that we absolutely loved it & in fact are returning again next year. I really cannot recommend enough. Great property, central location & fabulous facilities. Thank you so much.

“Lovely apartment”

Reviewed 25 Oct 2016

This is a lovely apartment which worked really well for our family. The balcony is great and really adds to the living space and it has an impressively well stocked kitchen. I would recommend a car even for the local beach if you have small children. I was really pleased to have ours with 2 year old twins and it meant we could go to the beach really easily and for short trips which was good as the beach is amazing. Pat was extremely helpful before the trip.

“Spacious, homely accommodation in lovely gardens”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2016

We are a family of 5 with 3 boys aged 11,16 and 18. I liked the position of the Villa in a quiet, pleasant road with hardly any traffic as it is away from the centre. We also liked the fact that most of the other residents seemed to be Spanish, which gave it a more authentic feel. Although we are a fit family, the walk to the beach seemed a little too far for us, only from the fact if you wanted to nip back to your place and return to the beach. If you are carrying lilo's beach towels etc especially coming back is a good 25 minute walk. If you are pool people, you will be content to stay at this pool with a good book and peace. The grounds are beautifully mantained and indeed the whole island is extremely clean with no litter. The villa was a fantastic size for us being a family of 5 and very clean. As soon as you walk in it has a cosy feel to it. The only downside for us was unfortunately the neighbours had guests and would chat for ages at night until the early hours on the balcony, we couldn't sleep and would shut the window to make it quieter which at the same time would make it unbearably hot and you would still hear them. Also a dog was present which liked barking if the owners were out. We felt we couldn't complain as they own the property. Pat the owner has apologised and will speak to the neighbour about it. There are portable fans but due to the July heat at night it would have been very welcoming to have had some air con! We hired a car in the middle of our fortnight which was great. Lots of exploring, walking and enjoying the lovely island. This included visiting Citudella, Fornells, the highest point of Menorca and a few other lovely beaches including Cala Galdana and Son Bou. All lovely places and worth visiting. This is a very quiet resort at night,so do not expect it to be lively. This didn't matter to us, although a few more shops to browse would have been nice. The beach is beautiful and perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Also we did lots of walking around the area, including to Na Macaret, which is small but lovely and quirky with a couple of nice restaurants. (you can also go here via the little road train). We ran out of time to look at Port Addaia properly, this is very close and we had one of our best last meals there. I would have gone back there if we had had more days. Another plus was that there didn't seem many mosquito's or wasps compared to other places we have been in the height of summer. Pat is extremely helpful and thank you for letting us stay in your lovely Villa.

Thanks for this review, I am hopeful of having air conditioning installed in the bedrooms for the Summer 2017.

“Great apartment, great beach holiday!”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2016

The apartment was perfect, very well equipped with plenty of space for our family of two adults and three kids. Lovely swimming pool is shared with quite a few other apartments but it was never very busy, even in August. We chose to have a hire car and explore Menorca's many great beaches, but the local beach was also excellent so you could equally well do without one, especially if staying for one week. If you have two weeks (as we did) I think you should consider a hire car for at least some of the time. Menorca's roads are excellent, very easy to navigate and there are so many great places to visit. All in all, the apartment was a brilliant base for our family holiday - highly recommended!

“Great family holiday:)”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2016

This apartment was situated in the Coves Noves area of Arenal De Castell. It was a short walk around 15 mins to restaurants and Supermarket. You could take the bus to Mahon which only takes 20 mins and has lots of shops and restaurants. The apartment was well equipped and clean and tidy. The communal pool was lovely and most days we had it to ourselves. One tip I would mention is that you empty the kitchen bin everyday as this avoids ants. There is a nice homely feel to the place lots of dvds to watch at night if you are having a quiet night in. There is also free wi fi which was a must for our 2 teenagers. Overall we all had a great time even my parents who are in their seventies.

“A great house in a lovely resort. Perfect for young families”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2015

We had a lovely fortnight in Ses Moreres. The house is great, the pool fantastic and the beach at Arenal d'en Castell is perfect for families. The house has everything you could want for and is just 1/2 a mile from the beach. We loved it.

“Relaxing holiday enjoying time together with the family”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2014

Really loved this apartment - lovely view of the sea and the pool was excellent. Lots of room and very clean. Had a really good time and the teenagers enjoyed it too. A good place to stay in Menorca and a good location for the local shop and bars. The kids would have liked Wifi but then we wouldn't have spent time together talking as a family so it was a bonus for me that there wasn't any and we could always "connect" at the local bars.

Thanks for the lovely review, this is just a note to say that we intend having wifi installed ready for the 2015 season.

“Totally honest description”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2014

Clean, pleasant, quiet pool, adequate facilities close by - the apartment and location was exactly as described. We went for a week with my daughter, her partner and her 4 year old son. The pool was perfect having a separate small swallow section meant we could all enjoy the water safely and it was extremely quiet - we had it completely to ourselves on several occasions. Having a 4 year old with us meant we choose to eat at the apartment most nights which was easy - the kitchen was well equipped and the spacious dining areas made for lovely meal times. We didn't get the best of weather (a few rainy days) but we hardly noticed as the apartment had a great selection of dvd's and videos to keep us entertained. It is in a quiet residential location so if your looking for a rocking nightlife this probably isn't the place for you - although there are a few bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Finally the owner and their management company were an absolute pleasure to deal with - allowing us to be flexible with our departure time so we didn't have to spend the day with our suitcases, providing clear accurate information and responding to our service requests quickly. Overall a great place to take a family holiday.
