No.1 The Square is a deceptively spacious, three bedroomed, Grade II listed, Cotswolds holiday cottage, just three miles from the beautiful market town of Stow on the Wold, in the peaceful village of Upper Slaughter. The cottage provides self catering holiday accommodation for up to six persons and is a wonderful base from which to explore the Cotswolds, being close to the historic market towns of Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water, Moreton in Marsh, Broadway and Burford.

Originally a paupers cottage dating back to at least the early 19th century, it (and the rest of The Square at Upper Slaughter) were remodelled in 1906 by the renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. More recently, the cottage has been updated to provide self catering holiday accommodation, but much emphasis has been placed on maintaining the integrity of the building. The result is a magical mix of old and new, modern yet historic; indeed, everything you would hope for from a self catering cottage in the Cotswolds.

The front door opens into a large hall with ample space/pegs for all your outdoor clothing. To the left of the hall is the sitting room with exposed beams, inglenook fireplace and a large woodburning stove (wood provided), there is comfortable seating for up to six adults as well as a flatscreen Smart TV, DVD player, radio with Bluetooth speaker and free, unlimited, WiFi. Off from the sitting room is the country kitchen/diner, with an electric cooker, fridge/freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, microwave, dishwasher and ceramic sink.

Also on the ground floor you will find one double bedroom, with a wood burning stove (very romantic during long winter nights!), and a large shower room. The shower room also incorporates the laundry facilities with washing machine and clothes dryer.

The stairs lead up to the remaining two bedrooms and family bathroom. There is also a large landing on the first floor which provides an additional seating area – great for quiet contemplation or for off-loading the kids.

The cottage retains many original features and has been painted in muted colours throughout in order to retain its feeling of calm and relaxation. This is further promoted by pocket-sprung mattresses on all the beds to guarantee a good night's sleep.

Outside is a courtyard with outdoor seating for six and a BBQ. There is also a small lawned garden.
