“Absolutely amazing!”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2016

Wow what can I say! I stayed here with my husband for 2 nights to get some relaxation. I'm a stay at home mum and my son is 15 months old, i can't begin to explain how stressed i was before arriving here, then when i left i felt completely relaxed! The place is just amazing, the lounge and kitchen are a decent size, the bedroom is a decent size with an en-suite shower room, and the pool room is massive! The pool was lovely and warm and the sauna was very relaxing. There is a wet room in the pool room so it's easy to shower before and after swimming. I must say aswell that there are various books, games and dvds in the lounge which was a bonus for us as we didn't want to use our phones at all so when we weren't swimming we were playing Scrabble or watching a film :) There isn't any mobile signal but they do have fast wifi so you could still use the internet if you wanted to. So all in all we were very happy with our stay and Stuart and Jill are so lovely! Thank you again for such a perfect getaway.

“well worth a visit”

Beautiful location & apartment with the bonus of the heated indoor pool & sauna. We were greeted by Jill on arrival & given some local information of places to visit & said just ask if we required anything else . We were then left to enjoy our stay. We then saw Jill when we were ready to leave & had a really nice chat. It was like chatting with an old friend you had known for years.

“Excellent from start to finish”

We stayed here with our 3 young kids, and from the start Stuart (the host) was very accommodating and helpful. The Retreat is in fact a decent sized extension behind Stuart's farmhouse, but don't let that put you off. You are left alone in your own privacy and free to roam around, yet help is always at hand if needed. Of course, it goes without saying we all loved the swimming pool. The normal ritual was to have a swim and a sauna first thing in the morning, and last thing at night! My girls love horses and Stuart was only too willing to show us round his stables and let the girls have a play round. Oh, and thanks for the wildlife tour in your fields :) The girls are still talking about that and the swimming pool more than a month later. Thanks for the lovely memories Stuart and Jill. Needless to say we hope to be back soon, even if it is for a long weekend.

“Want to go back!”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2015

Went for a romantic break for a few days and it was brilliant in every way and exceeded my expectations even after reading the excellent reviews of previous visitors. The Retreat is set in lovely grounds neighbouring the owners property but they respect your privacy completely and leave you to enjoy. On arrival we were greeted by Stuart who showed us around the accomadation and gave us a complimentary bottle of some locallly produced apple juice which was amazing!, and also gave us permission tp pick some fresh tomatoes and berrys from the greenhouse and garden. The pool and sauna was a great addition to the stay and we had a swim in the evenings and sat in the sauna to unwind after a long day in complete privacy, There are lots of things to do nearby (within 20 miles average) so you can keep busy through the day and kick back and relax when you get back in the evening. Will definately go back and would highly recommend!

“A WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY - PEACEFUL AND ROMANTIC”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2015

We discovered The Retreat by googling 'accommodation with private sauna' and found it quite by chance. We could only have dreamed that it would be this good. The accommodation was fabulous and offered everything we could have wanted. The most marvellous part though was outside in the beautiful garden and with views across the valley to the old church that transfixed us. We spent a good deal of time in the garden and on the patio just enjoying its calming effect. It seems like a very healing place to us and we couldn't recommend it more highly - especially if you are looking for a place to switch off for a while from life's cares. Stuart and Jill were superb hosts and even allowed us to pick fresh fruit and vegetables from their kitchen garden. Both the sauna and the pool also fab - we swam every morning and every evening - just ahead of a cool glass of wine ahead of fresh food that we cooked ourselves. On one evening, we watched a vibrant rainbow form when rain poured in one part of the garden, and the sun shone in another. We have included a picture. Thank you Stuart and Jill. We will certainly be back.

“Peaceful & relaxing and surrounded by beauty”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2015

What can I say... We had full and completely private use of the pool any hour of the day, our children were in heaven and so were we. Greeted every morning by a glorious, unspoilt view only added to the relaxing atmosphere this place has. The accommodation had everything we needed and more importantly was spotless and clean. Stuart was the perfect host, there on our arrival and on hand should there be anything we needed without being imposing. As a family we really enjoyed our time at The Retreat and on leaving were already discussing our return.

“New area - great holiday”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2015

This was a wonderful spot in a great location. The house, pool, gardens were firs class and our host and hostess were warm, welcoming and helpul. the house is close to many great places to visit and it is also a perfect place to come back to after a day out. Everything about the experience was delightful and we woudl certainly recommend the Retreat one hundred percent. And we would go back tomorrow if we could.

“Luxury and Tranquility”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2015

This is our third visit now and we are never let down. The lounge was so cosy, my son and husband spent hours in the pool. I asked Laura for a pie which wasn't on the menu and it was scrummy! My 6 year it's has decided that Brambles is his pet and took him for regular walks! Jill and Stuart are lovely people who fully understand how to cater for guests needs.

“Relaxing country retreat”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2015

Stayed in 'the retreat' at wolferlow house with our young baby and had extended family in the main house which was the perfect set up for us as we were part of a wedding party locally. The pool and games facilities are excellent and exclusive to the retreat which kept us well occupied. Well equipped kitchen with tea, coffee etc which helped in making our stay very easy and enjoyable. Beautiful grounds and country setting. Was a shame we didn't get to spend too long at the place. Would have loved to have seen more of the grounds.
