The Retreat received the prestigious TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence and has over 50 excellent reviews. It is a single apartment in a cottage above the private heated indoor swimming pool room giving it wonderful views across the fields. The Retreat comprises a luxurious double bedroom with en-suite shower featuring a king size bed and Chinese furniture. A proper fold-out double bed settee allows extra sleeping in the sitting area. Double doors and a Juliet balcony give views across the croquet lawn. The fully equipped kitchen is tucked in the corner of the generous living area with flat screen TV, comfortable chairs and a dining table. A wide double-glazed glass screen leads to an elevated paved balcony with outdoor seating and distant views to the church and historic Wolferlow Court.
The 9m heated indoor pool also has a Finnish sauna, wet room and table tennis table / gym. It is totally private and exclusive for The Retreat. It is much appreciated by many of our guests either couples or young families.
The large gardens are open each year (one day on 13 June 2015) for the National Garden Scheme and include an orchard, wildflower meadow with ponds, herbaceous borders and distant views across neighbouring farmland. Well away from any busy roads the property is peaceful and private.
Attention to detail includes the provision of top quality bed linen, towels and luxury towelling robes. A new Wifi connection now provides excellent broadband reception. Professional chef supper menu provided on enquiry for meals delivered to you - highly recommended.
The Retreat is ideal for a couple looking for a romantic and luxury getaway or to bring the baby / younger children and enjoy a family time together. If the party is a little larger it is often possible to use double ensuite bedrooms in the main house on a sleeping only basis at a separate charge - please enquire with booking.

Wolferlow is a tiny hamlet comprising about 20 houses and farms with beautiful countryside and walking immediately on the doorstep. Birdwatching (72 species on the garden list), wildlife (hares, badgers and foxes in the garden) and historic churches abound and short travels can take you to lots of interesting places (more details later).
The Retreat's highlight is the exclusive use of a completely private 9m indoor heated swimming pool and a Finnish sauna. There's also a table tennis table and plenty of room to work out or practice pilates in the pool area. We can even arrange for you to have a personal trainer visit at extra cost by prior arrangement. Immediately outside the pool is a secluded sun terrace and garden for your exclusive use.
The Retreat is accessed by a single flight of 15 stone steps with metal handrail and is therefore, unfortunately, not suitable for wheelchairs. It will be suitable for others with some restricted mobility so long as they can cope with gravel garden paths and the steps.
The use of the swimming pool and sauna is subject to compliance with simple and clear instructions which form part of the booking contract. Copies are available on arrival.
Please note that the Owners (Stuart and Jill) live on-site at Wolferlow House. Mobile phone signal is weak so please always call on the home phone (and answerphone) for bookings.
The Worcestershire region
The Herefordshire / Worcestershire area is a well kept secret offering a wealth of interesting places to visit whilst being right in the depths of beautiful countryside with lots of peace and quiet.
London is a world away but we are actually only 120 miles from the M25. Birmingham is 38 miles. Readily accessible from M5 J5 (Droitwich Spa) & J7 (Worcester South).
Bromyard (6 miles) Home to the Herefordshire Marmalade Festival, The International Town Criers' Festival, the Scarecrow Festival, Dr Who Museum, Nozzstock Rock Festival, Jazz and Folk Festivals; there's something for everyone going on here! That's before you visit Brockhampton National Trust, Bromyard Downs or Bringsty Common.
Tenbury Wells (7 miles) Traditional market town on the River Teme hosting the Mistletoe and Holly market and has many traditional shops on the high street that you won't find anywhere else. Good food and drink is to be expected when the town is surrounded by farms, hop fields and orchards.
Worcester (15 miles) Visit the magnificent cathedral, catch up with the English Civil War at the Commandery, stroll along the Shambles shopping, explore the River Severn or relax at New Road watching the county cricket.
Ludlow (17 Miles) Architectural gem and gate to the Welsh Marches, Ludlow has a wonderful market, superb restaurants and events and festivals throughout the year. Ludlow Castle dates from 1086 and is surrounded by over 450 listed buildings. Wonderful for foodies!
Great Malvern (18 miles) The Malvern Hills offers some of the best walking in the country before visiting the local tea rooms, shops, spa, theatre, Abbey, Eastnor Castle or the Three Counties Showground for the Spring, Summer and Autumn Garden Shows.
Hereford (20 Miles) Another great cathedral with the Mappa Mundi and the historic chained library, horse racing, traditional black and white buildings, local cider and beer all set in a medieval market city.
The Cotswolds, The Long Mynd, The Black Mountains, Hay-on-Wye, Cheltenham and Stratford are all within reasonable driving distance.
Local country pubs and restaurants serve great locally sourced food and drinks. Our professional chef daughter also prepares excellent supper food delivered to you from a menu supplied when booking - always appreciated by those who choose it (halal options available).
Upper Sapey Golf Course (27 holes) is at the end of our lane, a three day event course even closer, a local gym, riding school and fishing nearby, Shelsley Walsh hillclimb (the oldest motor racing event in the world) two villages away and the Worcestershire Way (36 miles) is on the doorstep. Children may like West Midlands Safari Park and the Severn Valley Railway.
English Heritage look after Witley Court (7 miles), the remains of a vast and rambling palatial mansion with its magnificent grounds and restored fountains. Next door is an amazing Italianate baroque church and its tearooms.
Can I bring my own horse with me? Yes, you can. We have stables and our own paddocks. We also have three horses.

"Excellent from start to finish"
We stayed here with our 3 young kids, and from the start Stuart (the host) was very accommodating and helpful. The Retreat is in fact a decent sized extension behind Stuart's farmhouse, but don't let that put you off. You are left alone in your own privacy and free to roam around, yet help is always at hand if needed. Of course, it goes without saying we all loved the swimming pool. The normal ritual was to have a swim and a sauna first thing in the morning, and last thing at night! My girls love horses and Stuart was only too willing to show us round his stables and let the girls have a play round. Oh, and thanks for the wildlife tour in your fields :) The girls are still talking about that and the swimming pool more than a month later. Thanks for the lovely memories Stuart and Jill. Needless to say we hope to be back soon, even if it is for a long weekend.

"Want to go back!"
Went for a romantic break for a few days and it was brilliant in every way and exceeded my expectations even after reading the excellent reviews of previous visitors. The Retreat is set in lovely grounds neighbouring the owners property but they respect your privacy completely and leave you to enjoy. On arrival we were greeted by Stuart who showed us around the accomadation and gave us a complimentary bottle of some locallly produced apple juice which was amazing!, and also gave us permission tp pick some fresh tomatoes and berrys from the greenhouse and garden. The pool and sauna was a great addition to the stay and we had a swim in the evenings and sat in the sauna to unwind after a long day in complete privacy, There are lots of things to do nearby (within 20 miles average) so you can keep busy through the day and kick back and relax when you get back in the evening. Will definately go back and would highly recommend!

"A WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY - PEACEFUL AND ROMANTIC"
We discovered The Retreat by googling 'accommodation with private sauna' and found it quite by chance. We could only have dreamed that it would be this good. The accommodation was fabulous and offered everything we could have wanted. The most marvellous part though was outside in the beautiful garden and with views across the valley to the old church that transfixed us. We spent a good deal of time in the garden and on the patio just enjoying its calming effect. It seems like a very healing place to us and we couldn't recommend it more highly - especially if you are looking for a place to switch off for a while from life's cares. Stuart and Jill were superb hosts and even allowed us to pick fresh fruit and vegetables from their kitchen garden. Both the sauna and the pool also fab - we swam every morning and every evening - just ahead of a cool glass of wine ahead of fresh food that we cooked ourselves. On one evening, we watched a vibrant rainbow form when rain poured in one part of the garden, and the sun shone in another. We have included a picture. Thank you Stuart and Jill. We will certainly be back.

"Peaceful & relaxing and surrounded by beauty"
What can I say... We had full and completely private use of the pool any hour of the day, our children were in heaven and so were we. Greeted every morning by a glorious, unspoilt view only added to the relaxing atmosphere this place has. The accommodation had everything we needed and more importantly was spotless and clean. Stuart was the perfect host, there on our arrival and on hand should there be anything we needed without being imposing. As a family we really enjoyed our time at The Retreat and on leaving were already discussing our return.

"Luxury and Tranquility"
This is our third visit now and we are never let down. The lounge was so cosy, my son and husband spent hours in the pool. I asked Laura for a pie which wasn't on the menu and it was scrummy! My 6 year it's has decided that Brambles is his pet and took him for regular walks! Jill and Stuart are lovely people who fully understand how to cater for guests needs.

"Relaxing country retreat"
Stayed in 'the retreat' at wolferlow house with our young baby and had extended family in the main house which was the perfect set up for us as we were part of a wedding party locally. The pool and games facilities are excellent and exclusive to the retreat which kept us well occupied. Well equipped kitchen with tea, coffee etc which helped in making our stay very easy and enjoyable. Beautiful grounds and country setting. Was a shame we didn't get to spend too long at the place. Would have loved to have seen more of the grounds.

We went as a family of 5, (my husband, our 3 young children and myself) and all i can say is that it is the best short break we have had! The location is beautiful, surrounded by greenery and farms, so peacful and relaxing. The flat has everything you would need for a short break, and is very nice. The pool is just wonderfull, as well as the sauna. Jill and Staurt were lovely hosts, and their dog - Brambles!, my girls have fallen in love with him!!! I cannot recommend this place enough, it is just perfect!!

"Beautiful place and great for the family"
Friends had told me about the Retreat and their glowing recommendation was fully deserved. I went with my wife and 6 month old son. We are a practicing Muslim family and the retreat offered great seclusion and the pool was private and there were no issues at all on this front. The residence above the pool is well laid out and has all you can want from the kitchen (utensils, washing machine, fridge with small freezer, oven etc theres even a bbq outside if you fancy it) Bedroom is lovely and the bed is soo compfy! It has a nice ensuite too.. Living room has cozy sofas and enough reading material to keep you busy. Wifi is good aroudn the whole complex and theres a small collection of dvds if you fancy a night infront of the box. Pool - lovely! secluded and private - with a sauna too! theres a mini gym with dumbells and other stuff and a full size table tennis set. Its all self catered - we never took up the opportunity to have the food from Stuarts daughter - but maybe next time we go. Already looking forward to the next visit! During the day, we went to WM Safari park only 30 minutes away. But there's so much to see and do around the area. Hopefully will get to check that out next time. All in all a gem of a place. Recommend it highly
