“just what you imagine a country cottage to be”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2013

The cottage had all the warmth and character you'd hope to find in a property located in The Cotswold's. The welcome basket was unexpected and much appreciated as were the milk, bread, eggs and butter. The central heating boiler kept the cottage feeling cosy with the addition of a traditional solid fuel fire in the living room for anyone wanting to feel extra toastie. A selection of classic DVD films, audio CD's plus card and board games is provided for those choosing to remain in doors during extreme or inclement weather conditions. The cottage was generally well equipped to a very good standard and we would recommend it to anyone seeking the cottage experience.

“Lovely cottage - home from home”

Wonderful weekend break with hubby, the dog and a friend at a cottage that was like being in someone's home. Great facilities. Two excellent pubs in easy walking distance and right in the middle of the Cotswolds for seeing everything you would want to see.

“Lovely welcoming touches makes this a home from home!”

I stayed with my boyfriend, a friend and her boyfriend. We hadn't seen each other for years and wanted a weekend away to catch up and celebrate our birthdays. Arriving at Odd Cottage at night, we were welcomed by a warm, inviting house with little lights left on and beautifully cosy bedrooms. The wonky floors were lovely (though mind the steep staircase) and the cottage had a real character. The lounge area is spacious and relaxing, the beds very comfortable and the welcome package was more than appreciated, lots of extra little gems to make us feel at home from the moment we walked through the door! I would say this was a great base to explore the countryside but we barely left, the cottage was such a delight! There was plenty of wood for a roaring fire, and we brought plenty of wine to enjoy in front of it!

“Great cottage, everything catered for”

Booking was very efficient and the information and directions provided were comprehensive. Cottage was presented exactly as advertised. It was clean and well decorated and furnished (although think the owners should ditch the artificial flowers) and very well equiped. The free wi fi, music system with Ipod docking, dvd collection, books and a basket of logs for the woodburner were all extras that make the difference when you are away from home. Even a welcome hamper on arrival. Kitchen is well equiped too. Thoughtfully, the owners had provided easy to follow instructions for how to use the remotes for TV, etc. Bed was very comfortable and there is plenty of storage space for clothes, etc. Just a pity we only had a short three night break. Odd cottage is in a terrace of three tucked away down a cul-de-sac just off the main road running through Oddington. There is no parking as such, you just have to put the car on the widish verge at the top of the road - but not a big deal. Oddington is a nice village with two pubs. (We only tried the nearest, the Horse & Groom - quiet mid week but friendly and very good food.) It is however well placed for touring around the Cotswald towns. All in all one of the best self catering cottages I have stayed in.

Owner's reply: Thanks for your comments about Odd Cottage. It is a very special Cottage and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. Will pass on your comments about the artificial flowers to the owner. Next time you come try the Fox at the other end of the village, as thats another great pub too. Thanks Anna Fern Blue Lagoon
