“What a fabulous cottage in a beautiful place”

Reviewed 8 Feb 2016

Beautiful & charming cottage in a lovely village, great place to stay for all the family. Stayed here with my husband and 14 month old daughter who is crawling and trying to walk. The wooden floors were great and with the cottage being all on one level was even better for her. Lovely and clean with everything you need for a home from home stay, comfy beds, fully equipped kitchen and lovely sitting room. I hope to return in the summer months to enjoy the garden too. The little hotel/restaurant at the top of the road was fabulous with great food. Overall a fabulous quaint cottage that i would highly recommend.

“Beautiful, comfortable cottage”

Absolute 5 star experience in a delightful cottage set in pretty Upper Largo. Anne is very friendly and supportive and provides lots of useful information about the local area and wider. One can't fail to be impressed as you walk in to an exceptional cottage which is stylish, has everything anyone could need and is gleaming. It is possibly the best value rental of any cottage and is in an area brimming with things to do for couples, families, or like myself, a mother and 21 year old daughter.

“Cute cottage in a great location, with all necessary amenities for a comfortable stay”

We stayed at Holly Tree for 8 nights. The location was perfect for getting around to play some amazing golf courses (we played St Andrews Old Course & Castle Course, Crail, Kirkcaldy, Lundin Links). St Andrews was only a 20 min drive! There is a beautiful trail that you can walk from Upper to Lower Largo (takes about 20 min) where you'll find beaches and the ocean. Anne and Eldon are wonderful hosts.

“Perfect apartment in lovely Scottish village”

This cottage is immaculate and very comfortable. It has a double bedroom (we did not use the other bedroom), a charming living room overlooking the village green, a nice kitchen and bathroom, and perhaps best of all, a lovely back garden with a table and chairs surrounded by flowers and small trees. The friendly owners live next door and have a wealth of local knowledge. Lots of beautiful countryside within easy reach - the local beach and coastal towns, charming St. Andrews, many country walks. A great place to explore Fife.

We are delighted that you enjoyed the cottage. Thank you for your kind comments. Anne

“Lovely cottage, great location - thoroughly recommended”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2013

We had a fantastic week staying at Holly Tree Cottage with our two daughters aged 7 and 9. The cottage is just lovely as are the owners. We made our booking on the strength of other reviews as we knew nothing about the area and we were not disappointed. The weather was fairly good so we had lots of trips to the beach, but we also visited St Andrews and several of the pretty fishing villages in the area. Muddy Boots play centre was a huge hit with the girls - especially the giant bouncy pillow and grass sledging which we all tried. Do I have any reservations in thoroughly recommending a holiday at Holly Tree Cottage? Only that the next time I try to book it you may have already booked the week I want!

“Oooh how loverly!”

What a lovely little place. And not so little at that. We really enjoyed our week in this cottage over New Years Eve - Hogmonay and would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing, clean, delightful stay in a quaint little village in Scotland. We were looking for a quiet way to spend a week before a large tour around Europe and hit on lucky when we found Holly Tree Cottage. We spent a lot of our time travelling to St Andrews, Edinburgh and Loch Lomond and thoroughly appreciated the journey to and from in every direction. The hosts are fabulously warm and inviting and although they are next door, you are left to enjoy this comfortable home and sweet little garden just like it was your own. In fact, that was one of the things we liked best. Whilst it is a holiday cottage, this space is full of all the little things you may need, and not stripped bare from one guest to the next. There was kitchen foil, salt and pepper, cooking oil - even sticky tape which we randomly needed to use and found.

“An Absolute Gem”

Would I recommend this holiday home to anyone? Yes, I would. Would I book this house again? Yes, I would. What can I say? Well, actually a lot. It was located in Upper Largo on the east coast of Scotland, not an area we were familiar with at all. My husband was doing a cycle race at end of our stay, so we booked this house as it looked lovely and wasn't too far from places we wanted to see. The location is so quiet and peaceful (nice when you're from an area with a lot of houses and kids), so felt really rested when leaving. I thought our kids, aged 8 and 12, might be bored - far from it. It was so easy to get to places like St. Andrews (ice cream to die for and lovely sights/walk around town), Loch Leven, Edinburgh, Cupar (where we went to the Scottish Deer Centre and Fife Animal Park). Well worth a visit, even in the rain, is Cairn Fruit Farm. The kids adored it and we had a lovely time in the cafe watching the rain pour down. The owners of the house were so friendly and easy to get in touch with in the lead up to the holiday, that it was a breeze compared to some places we've visited in the past. Well worth bearing in mind if you're looking for a location that suits all ages.

“Delightful, modern and well equipped cottage with lovely owners”

Reviewed 3 May 2012

Aug 2011 was our 4th visit to Holly Tree Cottage. It is a lovely peaceful location conveniently located to visit St Andrews, Cupar and the rest of Fife plus only about 40 minutes away from Edinburgh. The cottage, having only been fully refurbished a few years ago, is very well equipped and comfortable, has a modern kitchen with every utensil you could wish for. It also has a lovely private garden to the rear which our 3 children have enjoyed, their ages having ranged from 1 year to 7 years, during the years that we have stayed there. The garden gets plenty of sunshine too. Anne and Eldon who own the cottage live just next door and they provide an excellent welcome, so are on hand should there ever be any problems (we never had a single one). Upper Largo has a few shops such a newsagent, but Sainsburys can be found at nearby Leven, and Morrisons on the outskirts of St Andrews. There is a extensive information at the cottage relating to nearby attractions and restaurant/eating places, etc. We look forward to staying at Holly Tree Cottage on our next visit to Scotland.
