Description

The Coconut Treehouse is in a quiet spot nestled in a garden of coconut trees, yet is only a 10 minute drive to beautiful beaches and provides easy access to the historic Galle Fort. We built this 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house in 2014 as a retreat for our family when returning home to Sri Lanka for visits with family and friends. It is an antique-style home with beautiful, high wooden ceilings and an open floor plan.

The garden is spacious, surrounding the house with trees and plants that are not only beautiful, but also provide an easy chance to see some of the amazing wildlife here. We regularly see monkeys (purple-faced leaf monkeys) and often see iguanas. Bright blue kingfisher birds along with an occasional green parrot or wild peacock can also be seen within the garden.

You will have access to the entire house (3 bedrooms, 2 baths, large common room for relaxing and eating, kitchen, front and back porches). The garden is also yours to enjoy. Our all three bedrooms are air conditioned. There are ceiling fans in every room and on the porches as well. Each bed has a mosquito net. We also have a water cooler for fresh drinking water at the house.

Coconut Treehouse is our vacation home, so we will most likely not be in the area during your stay. We have an onsite property caretaker, however, who will be available to help you enjoy your stay. The entrance for the caretaker's space is separate from the home space. The caretaker provides breakfast, maintains the garden, does basic house cleaning, and launders bed linens and bath towels. The caretaker can call a tuk tuk driver for you and advise you about nearby grocery stores or other practical information.

The surrounding neighborhood is mostly local family residences with some guest houses renting rooms to foreign visitors. It is a quiet, pleasant area. We are a 5 minute drive from the Galle-Matara Road where you can find grocery stores (we like Arpico and Sea Fare Food City), the post office, and other shops. Another 5 minutes and you can be at the beach.

Getting around

The easiest way to get around is by tuk tuk. We can recommend a good driver. If you have rented a vehicle, there is space to park in front of the house. You can catch a bus on the Galle-Matara Road which is about a 15 minute walk. If you will be coming straight from the airport for your stay at Coconut Treehouse, for your convenience, we can arrange for a van with the driver that we use.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Nuwan (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
