“Beautifully presented villa with pool and marvellous views of Umbrian hills”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2015

Setting high up on a hillside above the upper Tiber valley was ideal, with marvellous views all round. The house is beautifully maintained and well-appointed, as is the generously-sized swimming pool. A separate pool house provides additional facilities and there is a lovely covered dining area with barbecue and ping-pong. Immediately around the house is a well-kept lawn (sprinklers come on at night to maintain it), there are also mature trees and shrubs and an olive-grove below the house. Mario the gardener leaves tomatoes etc most mornings and discreetly maintains the grounds and pool. The owner and family were all present to welcome us when we arrived and set the tone for a thoroughly relaxing break in a congenial environment. With day-time temperatures in the upper 30s the loft room became very hot at night, even with a newly installed air-conditioning unit. We found all our shopping needs in the Coop at Umbertide, approx 20 mins drive away and also open Sunday mornings. There are many enticing places to explore in the region, but we enjoyed ourselves so much at the villa that we left those for another time!

“Absolutely perfect villa, amazing views - you will not be disappointed!”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2014

From the first moment we arrived at this villa we were all blown away! Lovely welcome from Tom with wine on the terrace and a tour of the house. All the villas amenities were explained clearly, it really is fully equipped - dish washer, washing machine, coffee machine, sky movies, wi-fi, and it is beautifully presented, extremely clean and well maintained. The house is full of character and each window has an amazing view of the beautiful countryside. The garden is gorgeous, perfect lawns, flowers, vegetables and expertly tended by Mario who is the lovely, friendly and discrete gardener. The villa is also surrounded by olive trees and we were very kindly given some of the oil they produce there - delicious! Also Mario regularly gave us tomatoes from the garden which we made in to bruchetta, pizza sauce, pasta sauce and had in salads...gorgeous! The terrace views and the pool views need to be seen to be believed - we spent so many lovely evenings chatting on the terrace, enjoying the perfect views of the Umbrian hills and the amazing tranquility of the area. The pool was a perfect contrast to the hot and sunny weather - our teenagers really enjoyed the pool, it is a really good size and spotlessly clean. The supermarket is a short drive, possibly 3 km down into the town and is fully stocked with all you could possibly need. Whilst here we visited, Perugia, Gubbio, Siena, Florence and Rome (although we did drive half way then take a train into Rome to avoid driving in the city) and there is plenty to see and do in the area. We would love to return to this villa again soon as it was perfect for myself, husband and our 19, 17 and 14 year old kids - if you book this villa you will not be disappointed and you will have a lovely holiday! Thank you so much Tom !
