Description

Taigh a' Bhraoin is a four star (VisitScotland Grading) holiday cottage with 4 bedrooms (2 double and 2 twin) sleeping up to 8 people (+ a travel cot for a baby if required).The property is located in the magnificent North West Highlands of Scotland with views over Loch Broom and into the mountains beyond. Ullapool is 10 miles away.

There is full living accommodation on the ground floor consisting of 1 Double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, bathroom (with bath, basin, w.c. and full sized shower), lounge (with views to die for), dining area and kitchen (with washing machine and dishwasher).

Upstairs there is 1 king-sized bedroom (with en-suite shower, basin and w.c.), 1 twin bedroom and a separate guests w.c.

Outside there is a garden with chairs and tables, a barbecue and a sky that is full of stars to watch in the winter nights (in mid-summer it doesn't really get dark).

However you wish to spend your holiday, be it simply relaxing or exploring the true grandeur of the Scottish Highlands, you will find that Taigh a' Bhraoin is the ideal place to stay.

“Lovely comfortable stay in great location”

A nice comfortable modern house looking out across Loch Broom. We were a group of friends, staying in this beautiful area mostly for the fabulous hillwalking. Taigh a' Bhraoin is comfortable and comes with a very well-equiped kitchen. Lovely little touches like a "welcome pack" of essential food items (including a bottle of wine, obviously!) also helped to make us feel welcome. There were plenty of books and games to keep us occupied in the evenings, as well as good local guidebooks and informtion about the local area. The only minor point to note is that, as a group of 8 adults we were a little bit squeezed in terms of bathrooms (only one family bathroom plus one en-suite), especially given that we all tended to want to shower when down off the hills. Also space round the table is a bit tight for 8 adult. Neither of these would be a problem for family groups or a slightly smaller groups of adults. Letters itself is a very small crofting township but Ullapool is only 15 minutes away and has all you could need in terms of shops, pubs, chipshop, swimming pool and museum. The area is beautiful, and there are several good walks that start straight from the door of the house.

We were extremely impressed with this cottage and had a wonderful week. The cottage is the most well-equipped that we have rented, the owners had thought of everything right down to the wide selection of herbs and spices for cooking! All rooms were spacious and comfortably furnished to a high standard and we loved the patio which provided fabulous views of the loch and surrounding hills, great for seal watching. The welcome pack of bread, butter, wine etc which we found on arrival was a lovely surprise- not had that before. Just a short drive into Ullapool which has all the required amenities makes this a perfect place to stay. We will definitely be back and would certainly recommend this cottage to our friends. Just a shame that the week had to end!

“Ideal Cottage”

Taigh a' Bhraoin is an outstanding place to stay in a beautiful location. The accommodation is really well presented and very comfortable. The attention to detail is clearly evident throughout, and it's obvious that a great deal of thought and care has gone into ensuring that guests' needs and requirements are more than adequately catered for. We were able to relax the moment we were through the door. The views of the surrounding landscape - especially the loch - are stunning, and Ullapool itself is only a short drive away. We had a great week at Taigh a' Bhraoin and would strongly recommend it.

“Well Appointed Well Kept Cottage Excellent !”

We where a group of friends who together ride motorcycles there was 3 couples and one single for are week at Taigh a Bhraoin in June 2015 weather was mixed but always found some sun the position and location of the cottage was great allowing us to explore the Northwest Highland with great roads and views we had day trips to Sky, Applecross, Loch Ness, Tongue & Durness, and the Summer isles. As Motorcyclists the only thing which was a problem for us was the loose gravel parking area but as the road had an area opposite the cottage we just parked the bikes in their. The cottage was excellent which was well kept and clean with everything you would need to have a great stay this cottage is credit to the owners (Mary & Andrew Mckenzie) and thank you very much for letting us stay in your home. How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
