Kneep Cottage is the ideal small family or couples getaway set in large gardens just a stones throw from a stunning and secluded white sand beach. From Easter to September the small village, set around 35 miles from the town of Stornoway (and about as far north and west as you can get in the UK) has a delightful laid back, holiday feel with boating and camping nearby and many beaches to choose from. But with so much wilderness all around its easy to spend a day seeing no-one at all, wandering down through an acre of garden to an almost private beach with rock-pools, soft sand and great, safe swimming. Or you can head to the hills for long days of walking, as far away from the city as you could hope for. The cottage is a colourful home-from- home and is well equipped with oil central heating and two multi-fuel stoves making it the ideal winter retreat too, especially for creative types or outdoors or wildlife lovers who might like a longer stay. There is a plentiful supply of books, a second sitting room with toy-boxes for the kids and a shed full of wetsuits and beach toys. In summer the garden with private beach access brims with 'machair' wildflowers and wildlife from otters to corncrakes. In winter the view over small islands is dramatic and the northern lights are often seen from the doorstep. Kneep Cottage is not pretentious but it is extremely comfortable and in one of the best locations you could hope for. People tend to return year after year.

Why can't I call Elly (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Elly (the owner) a message.

If Elly (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
