Murni's Houses are built in a traditional Balinese walled compound. Step through the gate and you enter a world of tranquility, filled with Balinese art, that's just a few minutes' walk from the main street of Ubud.
The Suite has one bedroom with a queen size bed, a living room in which the couch is also a single bed, bathroom, electronic safe, private veranda and private entrance. For a single, a couple, or a couple with a child.
Up to three Murni's Big Breakfasts per day included.
For those times you don't want to go to town, you can have your meals on the large veranda, or your personal veranda in your house.
Wander round the garden and enjoy Murni's collection of stonecarvings by Wayan Cemul, one of Bali's most famous sculptors and living treasures. Born in 1927, he is Murni's father's cousin. Cemul produces non-conventional statues that are quintessentially Balinese in character and full of comic playfulness.
Murni's Houses have 220/50HZ electricity, hot running water, flow-through ventilation and are fully mosquito-screened. Included are fans, blankets and a mini-bar. There is day and evening room service from our internationally famous restaurant, Murni's Warung, just three minutes away.
Murni's Big Breakfast is two eggs served to order, ham or bacon, toast with jam, yoghurt with fruit and honey, and coffee or tea.
Free coffee and tea facilities and drinking water in each accommodation. Free WiFi throughout for your laptop or smart phone. A baby crib is available.
We can arrange tours, courses or activities (such as cooking classes, a session with the medicine man from Eat, Pray, Love, white water rafting, elephant safari park trip with a ride on an elephant, bicycle drive through the villages, bird walks, tarot reading, snorkeling or scuba diving or a boat trip to a deserted island) for you. and offer very comfortable transportation at a reasonable cost to anywhere on the island. Just give us a bit of notice.
Note that there is no pool - yet. If you want a lovely pool, have a look at Murni's Villas. You can also use the pools at nearby hotels for a small fee.
We have our own spa Tamarind Spa at Murni's Houses. Trip Advisor's Attractions in Ubud, based on guests' experiences and reviews, lists Tamarind Spa at Murni's Houses as one of the top attractions.

The Bali region
Ni Wayan Murni, born in Penestanan, Bali, is a very well-known personality on the Bali scene and a pioneer of Balinese tourism. During her career she has lived in Sanur and Ubud and has travelled widely. By the early 1970s she owned 4 shops on Sanur beach and had opened Ubud's first real restaurant, Murni's Warung, overlooking the Campuan River and was on the way to becoming one of the most famous people in Bali. Since then thousands of people have enjoyed her food and hospitality. She is still very active in the restaurant.
During her adult life Murni has been busy collecting and becoming an expert on Asian antiques and textiles and many of them are to be found in Murni's Warung Shop beside the restaurant. She was the first person in Ubud to have a proper gallery of antiques, textiles, costumes, old beads, tribal jewelry, stone carvings, masks and other ethnic pieces. Many of her pieces are museum quality and her fine arts credentials are impeccable. She is a member of the Thai Textile Society.
In 2007 and 2009 she exhibited part of her collection at the prestigious shows, Arts of Pacific Asia and Tribal Arts & Textiles, in San Francisco and gave a lecture on Balinese textiles to the Textile Arts Council at the de Young Museum. She understands and participates in Balinese culture on a daily basis and plays in a women's gamelan group at important religious ceremonies.
