Description

Maple Lodge nestles in the peaceful village of Cosgrove in South Northants. It is just yards from the Grand Union Canal and a short walk from the Ouse Valley yet just 10 minutes drive from Central Milton Keynes.
It is ideally situated for walking, cycling (miles of off-road routes) or fishing and for visiting local museums (Stoke Bruerne Canal Museum and Bletchley Park) and stately homes (Woburn Abbey and Waddesdon Manor). For sports enthusiasts we have Towcester Racecourse, Silverstone Racetrack, Stadium MK and Daytona Go-Karting virtually on our doorstep.

Maple Lodge is well-insulated making it warm and cosy all year - it has two oil-filled radiators and a heated towel rail.
Self-catering but provisions are provided for a continental style

“Good location - well equipped lodge”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2016

Good central location, lodge was very clean and well equipped, good walks along the canal close by. Very helpful owners, cereal, milk and butter of our choice provided so very thoughtful. Lodge (and parking) was in owners secure garden.

Owner's reply: Thank-you for your review and we're pleased you had a relaxing holiday. It is great that the canal runs right through the village making it easy to join the many walks that utilise the towpath.

“Delightful hideaway”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2014

My wife and I found this delightful spot when requiring somewhere to stay for a week at short notice. How fortunate we were! What was described as a “log cabin” turned out to be a Scandinavian-style wooden cottage with delightful knotted wooden interior throughout. Light and airy (and with a delightful wood aroma when entering) it had everything we needed - a comfortable bed in a separate bedroom, cooking facilities in the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge and a separate bathroom with a good shower. The cottage is in the grounds of the owners’ house with car parking and good security. The Grand Union canal with everything it offers for walking and interest is a couple of hundred yards along the road, and if you pass under the canal in the original horse tunnel and walk another hundred yards you arrive at Cosgrove village’s excellent Barley Mow pub. All this peace and tranquility a few minutes’ drive from Milton Keynes! Landlords Chris and Andy couldn’t be more helpful and are great company, but discrete with it. Quality breakfast ingredients supplied were supplemented with vegetables from the garden and fresh eggs courtesy of the hens that roam freely around it. Maple Lodge was so pleasant we rented it as a base for a further three weeks upon returning from a week in Ireland. Thoroughly recommended!
