"Lovely self-catering cottage with terrific garden"
Lovely cottage and location. Garden is a highlight as is the fact that you are staying in a very, very old cottage. Well appointed and comfortable. Although it was obviously cleaned regularly, a bedroom window was stuck and could not be opened, and the rafters and furniture were very dusty, often sporting cobwebs. That particular bedroom was very musty and would benefit from some fresh air. The bedding and linen could definitely use a renewal. However, overall, the cottage was lovely and comfortable and we'd happily return.

"Cosy house in the countryside"
Well equiped house with garden located in a village not far to train station to move around South England. Easy access to Winchester and pathways of South Downs NP.

"A cozy cottage with a lot of soul, recommended for sure!"
It's a nice cottage, with all what you need right at hand. It is in a small village Shawford, and if you didn't go by car, it's close to the nearest railway station... We can recommend it to others, also if you are a family bigger than my wife and me....

""England" ...like you remember it"
A delightful cottage in the equally delightful village of Twyford, very near Winchester, but also within comfortable range for day (or even half-day) trips to Portsmouth, Witterings beach, London and above all the New Forest and the ancient chalk of the South Downs. Plenty of good walks to be had through the Itchen watermeadows starting at the front door, too. The world famous (in our far flung family, at least) Twyford Post Office and Stores can provide most of the necessities of life (as well as anything from a haircut to a poached egg...), and there are two pubs within easy rolling home distance. Embessy itself is homely and welcoming; it's not palatial (it is a cottage, after all), but our family of five (children of 8, 6 and 3) fit quite comfortably into the two bedrooms (big double bed with an extra trestle upstairs, bunk beds downstairs next to the garden). The original part of the building dates from the 15th century (so you will want to mind your head in some places if you are over 6 ft), but the cottage has been thoughtfully and thoroughly renovated and extended, leaving the feel and atmosphere of a place with a fair bit of history, while also providing every comfort. The kitchen is very well equipped, the bathroom spic and span, and everything works; Hampshire was pretty cold and wet during our stay over Christmas and the new year - but we weren't.
