Description

LANGDALE VIEW LOG CABIN is a privately owned, well looked after, self-catering log cabin at the popular White Cross Bay Leisure Park on Lake Windermere in the heart of the Lake District National Park, Cumbria. It is ideal for walking or touring the Lake District. Our log cabin is in a quiet wooded area of the Park where, during off peak periods, deer can be spotted early in the morning. The Park is located at Troutbeck Bridge just off the A591 voted the most favourite 'A' road in England.

You are a few minutes walk from the heated indoor swimming pool, gym and sauna, which is included in the holiday cost. Also on site there is a shop where all the essentials can be bought and a laundry room (although the cabin does have an iron and clothes airer), a restaurant, bar, take-away, children's play area and a multi-games complex for older ones.

If you would like to bring your own boat or canoe arrangements can be made for launching.

Location description from owner

The England region

Cumbria / Lake District

The Lake District has 16 sparkling "lakes" and England's highest mountains, sheltered valleys, heather moorlands and salty seascapes. Cumbria and the Lake District have inspired and captivated generations of visitors and famous writers and poets such as William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. As well as the scenery the area has a rich heritage to discover, a vibrant and contemporary cultural scene, and a growing reputation for fine food and drink. On top of all this, there is a huge choice of tourist activities in some of the greatest outdoor landscapes in the world.

The unique landscape that inspired Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter today nurtures a new generation of writers, artists and musicians. Sculpture trails, poetry programmes, street art and theatre add up to a thriving cultural scene. The area has a fascinating heritage. Echoes of the past can be felt in stone circles and Roman forts, in historic houses and museums.

Cumbria and the Lake District is fast becoming a food lover's paradise from microbreweries and Michelin-starred restaurants to cosy cafés and farmers markets. Whether it's the simplest loaf or the most delicious delicacy, you'll find quality food and drink produced and prepared by people who are passionate in what they do best.

Troutbeck Bridge

Windermere

The area is rich in history and there are many magnificent historical buildings to visit. Kendal Castle dates back to the 13th century and Sizergh Castle, set in beautiful grounds, has a collection of Elizabethan carvings and panelling, fine furniture and portraits.

The South Lakes has a wealth of attractions and places to visit which appeal to the whole family. You can step back in time at one of our historic houses or fascinating museums, relax on a lake cruise or experience the nostalgia of a steam railway. Follow in the footsteps of great literary locals like William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin who all lived in the Southern Lake District and whose homes you can visit.

Whatever the weather, there are lots of things to see and do. To soak up the great outdoors, why not take a trip into Grizedale Forest and Go Ape? If you're keen to 'have a go', you can fly through the air at the newly-created Treetop Trek at Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Centre, or lose yourself in the Lakeland Maize Maze. If you fancy a flutter, why not put on your best attire and have a day at the races in Cartmel?

Experience the delights of a steam train on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, located in the scenic Leven Valley at the southern end of Windermere. The railway runs from Haverthwaite Station, along the banks of the River Leven, to Lakeside Station where you can alight and board one of the 'steamer' services cruising to Bowness and Ambleside, or visit the Lakes Aquarium!

If you like watersports or fishing there are hire outlets in Ambleside and at Low Wood Activity Centre. If you like to picnic, sit and relax whilst others mess about on the water, The Glebe at Bowness-on-Windermere is where you want to be or holidaying at one of the Leisure Parks like White Cross Bay.

There are arts and crafts courses and workshops at The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal. You can find visitor centres all around the area which make for a great day out for locals too, with cafés, shops and grounds to explore.

You can visit the Quaker Tapestry at the Meeting House Exhibition Centre in Kendal, Farfield Mill Arts & Heritage Centre at Sedbergh and much, much more.

“Wonderful stay”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2016

Just back from a lovely stay in this wonderful cosy cabin. Everything you could need was thought of within the contents. Was lovely cosy and clean when we arrived. We stayed as a family of 5 and our family dog for 3 nights and really wish we had booked longer. Lovely site close to lots of places to visit. We will be back again soon thank you xx

“Wonderful - cabin excellent, and location of park very good!”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2016

This cabin is a real home from home, with all you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Very cosy with the fire lit on a cool evening, and when the weather is good, eating on the balcony is delightful, with only the sound of birdsong in the surrounding woodland to relax with! We took our little dog, who loved the freedom of the secure balcony, and the wooded walks! Location of the cabin within the holiday park is very good, being in a quiet location on a wooded hillside away from the "street-like" rows of some of the other cabins, but within a few minutes walk to the pool and spa and pub/restaurant. Also, the park is right on the waters edge of Lake Windermere, again only a 5-10 minutes walk from the cabin, where there is a marina full of boats All in all, you can't go wrong, and we would certainly stay here again when holidaying in the Lakes!!.
