Very Good

“Poorly equipped kitchen no welcome info on area and surrounds.”

Broken window in kitchen - no welcome pack - part used milk in fridge - no folder with instruction on how to use equipment etc - no info on transport, restaurants, shops doctors, etc. This info is usually always provided and important. I found some debris of former guests in form of used cosmetic pad and elastic hair band on bedroom floor therefore not impressed with the cleanliness of the cottage. All round - poor. The cottage is attached between the owners property and the garage which is where the broken window was found - between kitchen and garage.

Owner's reply: A small window 6 inches 10 inches was broken. We have requested a glazier to repair. There is information on the site regarding transport links, rail and air, taxi, restaurants etc, also a printed sheet with information. Apologies for the 2 items found on the bedroom floor. I will be speaking to the cleaners regarding this.

Our Easter weekend was ruined... Unfortunately we did expect tatally different view... First of all we wanted to feel relaxed and free but when we came in we felt kind of pressure from the first our meeting with the owner... The owner wasn't happy to give us her permission to do a bbq in the back garden which was straighr out the door... the room was cosy, but the cottage is quite small as it is just a tiny part of the owner's house... so that is one more thing wich we didn't like and what was not mentioned in advertisement... We didn't stay that night there so we lost our money, although the reservation was made less than 24h before our arrival... It was the worst experience in our life!

Owner's reply: We think we have been given a poor review for the following reasons: The guests arrived around 3pm and stated they would like to bbq. Our site states that they have the use of the front garden, which is not gated. It was raining, 7C,and windy, especially to the front of the property. My wife helpfully suggested that they bbq in the back garden, which was more sheltered, and willingly gave the guests a key for access . They left their luggage, and returned after about 30 minutes and said they would like to cancel. They wanted an immediate refund, which we refused. They also complained that they had a very large dog ,which they would have liked to let roam in the garden, but they were afraid it would wander onto the road. Previous guests have had dogs and taken them for walks along the beach just in front of the property. Other points : The cottage is not part of the house, but converted stabling, and separate from the house. The lounge in the cottage is 19 ft by 15ft and has an impressive 15ft high ceiling with velox windows in the ceiling. Hardly "quite small" as written by the guests. You only have to read previous reviews on the house and cottage to realise how friendly and helpful Dow is , not " grumpy "as stated. To reiterate, a poor review, for all the above reasons.
