Location description from owner

The Languedoc-Roussillon region

Languedoc-Roussillon Region in the South of France still retains an air of being in the 1950s, with it's laid back pace of life, a place where people work to live and not live to work. It is a region of 300 days of sunshine and the largest wine producing region in France. Tressan is within the Herault Department (34) of the Languedoc and within it has diverse landscapes, from the Mediterranean Sea, endless hectares of vineyards and back to the, lake, gorges, mountains and rivers to the North. During the Summer months there are plenty of fesitvals going on in nearly all villages and towns. There is something for everyone in the region.

Tressan

Tressan, 15mins from the A75 North/South Autoroute: a charming peaceful village on a hilltop overlooking the Herault river on one side and the vineyards of the Herault Valley on the other. The village has a small shop where you can stroll to in the morning returning with your croissants and baguette for breakfast or eat outside on the terrace in front of the shop . You can also while away a little time in the evening with a glass of wine or beer - the village centre being only a 5min walk from the Pool House. The two larger town of Pezenas and Clermont L'Herault are a 15min and 10min drive, where you will find many bars, restaurants and a variety of shops and plenty of entertainment during the Summer months. There are also many small villages to stroll around, where the pace of life is one of relaxtion, with locals passing the time of day under the shade of trees or playing boules. There are various markets during the week with their colourful displays of local grown fruit, vegetables and varieties of handmade cheeses. The Mediterranean Sea is only about 30mins drive, with the beautiful sandy beach stretching from Cap d'Agde, through Marseillan and on to Sete. There is also the inland sea, the Etang, with the pretty small ports of Marseillan, Meze and the fishing village of Bouzege, where you will see the oyster and mussel beds and the landing areas for the fishing boats which bring them in daily to the restaurants along the shore. Or, head north, 15mins and visit the beautiful Lac du Salagou, also so tranquil, where you can swim, windsurf or take out a pedelo or kayak or relax along the shore. Westeren style horse riding is also near the lake, or take a cross country bike along the trails. If you like a busier enviroment for a day, travel, via the Tram, to the cosmopolitan city of Montpellier, with it's Roman aquaduct, Botanical Gardens, Art Gallery. The central cafe area set around the marble floored Place de la Comedie. Walking around Montpellier, you will come across plenty of other smaller Squares with cafes and tables under the shade of the magnificent Plane trees. Many people come and have commented they did not realise there is so much to see and do and what a beautiful area it is. So come and see for yourself !

“A piece of heaven in France”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2012

If you want to get away from it all and relax, this pool house must be one of the best places to go to. The views from the garden as you eat your breakfast in the garden, are breath taking, with vineyards and lazy French villages laid out before you. On a hot day the pool is only 3 steps away. A truly romantic setting with Carole an excellent hostess.

“Quiet, great views and a private pool on your doorstep”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2012

We stayed here in August, so didn't get out much as it was just too hot! Just as well the cottage was comfy, clean and with outside table and chairs in the garden overlooking a lovely long valley. It was also great that 3 steps took you from the French windows into a private pool, complete with sun loungers and a blow up bed for the pool. The cottage was small but perfect for two, with a lovely comfy bed, sofa, big table inside and another one outside, clean shower and small but adequate kitchen. The location is great - really quiet, great views, lots of stars at night and not too many bugs. The owner has 3 dogs, two of whom are quite inquisitive but they are small and no real trouble at all. Garden is grass with lots of fig trees and other vegetation - great for when the sun gets really hot. As the cottage faces the main house, privacy needs to be maintained, which was sometime hard as with the doors open, the long net curtains flew around a lot and I'm sure that Carol the owner sometimes saw more of us than she would have liked! However, the back door faces the garden and is mostly quiet. Wifi worked well although you need to go up to the veranda of the main house. Carole was a lovely host - available but unobtrusive. She is planning air conditioning, and this would be helpful in the hottest months, especially at night when it can get very muggy. We had a lovely restful stay here, and it is perfect for couples.

“Lovely peaceful spot with fantastic views.”

Our week in the Poolhouse was just what we needed. Carole was welcoming and helpful and the accomodation had everything we needed particuarly our "must haves" a comfy bed and good shower. The view is beautiful and the area has all you could want - interesting towns and villages, the sea near by as well as caves and rivers. Carole has a lot of tourist info and local guide books in the poolhouse, which we found invaluable. We would highly reccommend this pool house as great value for money and a place for a lovely relaxing holiday.
