Further details outdoors

The two barns together with the cottage stand in gardens and grounds extending to around 2 acres. The majority grassed and making it an ideal area for children to play and explore. There is a small copse where bluebells flower in the spring. In addition we have set over 3,000 daffodil bulbs since we have been here!!

The former enclosed farmyard is a wonderful sun trap and catches the setting sun and is laid out with limestone paved patios to provide both sitting and outside eating areas, weather permitting!!

The cottage and two barns have their own drive to the rear with ample off road parking.

Further details

We live on site and are more than happy to give advice on beaches, walks, local pubs & restaurants.

The Roseland Peninsula region

Pam & I moved to Cornwall in 2005 and to Carwinnick in 2006. We love both! If you are looking for peace and quiet, the main disturbances are owls, pheasants and the cry of the buzzard. We live on site in Swallows Barn (there are plenty of those too!). Whilst converting the barns we also found we had a wide variety of bats including both Greater and Lesser Horseshoe!

As we are on site we are only too happy to recommend a local walk, pub, restaurant or beach. I play golf at Perranporth but can recommend other golf courses in the area.

Carwinnick is a delightful rural retreat on the edge of the Roseland Peninsula, yet convenient for both the north & south coasts. Truro is 20 minutes drive and beaches on both the north and south coast are readily accessible.

We are located on the edge of the Roseland Peninsula, a hidden gem of unspoilt beaches and rolling countryside and acknowledged as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We have walked extensively on the coastal paths and have several circular walks for the energetic.

We can organise golf locally and keep trying the local hostelries and restaurants if advice is needed.

For those wishing to visit the excellent Lost Gardens of Heligan & Eden these are 4k & 11k away.

There is a thriving street market in Truro (13k) on Wednesdays & Saturdays and this cathedral city is well worth a visit.

"Beautifully converted 3 bedroom barn set in gorgeous grounds."

From the outset Nigel promptly answered all my queries. Then seeing that we were going to be 4 friends he actually upgraded us to the three bedroomed barn - for the same price! The barn was absolutely beautiful and extremely comfortable - it exceeded all our expectations. The rooms have plenty of natural light; the beds are really comfortable; the showers just great and the kitchen equipped with everything we needed. One of the bedrooms is downstairs and has an en suite shower room so ideal for persons with restricted mobility. The garden is simply gorgeous. It is set in the Cornish countryside but we found it easily with our GPS. We loved the tranquility and narrow country roads, The pub in Tregony (about 5 mins drive away) served mouthwatering food - highly recommend! Using the barn as our base, we were able to explore the picturesque villages of Polperro; Looe; St Michael Mount; Mousehole; Cadgwith; Falmouth; Mevagissey; Padstow and Clovelly among others. The only downside was having to leave this idyllic place. Thanks Nigel and Pam for letting us stay here.

"Tranquil, Very Well Equipped and Spacious"

This was a holiday after a family wedding. It exceeded our expectations. We stayed with 2 daughters (17, 21), they each had an ensuite room and space with wifi. What more to want for? The kitchen was very well equipped and generously provisioned with dishwasher tabs, soap etc. Although we only stayed 12 days, we were given clean sheets and towels halfway through and the property was cleaned too. The barn is very well positioned for North and South coasts, perfect for the walking we had intended. In all, a very restful holiday and a delightful property. All our dealings with Nigel and Pam the owners were very efficient. They were most helpful and very welcoming.

"Fantastic, peaceful house in Cornwall."

Me and my partner stayed here for a couple of nights with another couple (friends) and we had such a wonderful time. We arrived later than expected and Nigel and Pam were incredibly friendly and understanding. We had originally asked for the small barn which included one double bed and two single beds. But since no one was using the bigger barn they arranged so that we could use the bigger one instead, this was so kind of them! The place was really clean and they left a number of guides of the area and activity leaflets which came in really handy. Over all the house was great, the area was really quite which was exactly what we were looking for, and getting to all the places we aimed to was fairly easy and straightforward. Thanks a lot Nigel and Pam for sharing this lovely place with all of us!

"Excellent accommodation, lovely location and friendly welcoming hosts"

The accommodation has been tastefully and spaciously done in a quiet and beautiful location. Everything needed has been thought of. The owners are helpful and welcoming and can recommend good places to visit and dine. We have been on several occasions and will be returning. A good position for visiting the whole of Cornwall.

"Excellent comfortable accommodation with everything you need"

This is a gem of a place. The owners were there to greet us when we arrived and were really friendly and helpful. The accommodation was spacious and exactly how it looked it in the photos. We had everything we needed. The big dining room table was great for family dinners. A large travel cot and high chair were also provided for my toddler. Carwinnick is close to Truro and St Austell if you have a car. I think about 10 mins drive to both, very quick anyway. We found the location very central for travelling around Cornwall. It's near to the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Mevagissay. It's about a 2 hour drive to Lands End. We used the Supermarket in Truro to stock up and were happy to stay in and eat dinner for all four nights we were there. There was a BBQ, oven and microwave so it was easy to cook dinner. There weren't any negatives as everything worked and the place was nicely decorated and atmospheric. If I had to think of a negative we were in the ground floor bedroom and could hear plodding about in the bedroom above etc so maybe the place isn't totally sound proofed but not a problem at all.

"Excellent standard of accommodation and use of space"

The barn offers lots of space whilst keeping cosy feel. We hired both the cottage and barn and were able to sit all 13 of us around the table in the barn comfortably! We were made to feel extremley welcome by Nigel and Pam, offering us useful local information ontop of that in the welcome packs. Great location with easy access to beaches, caves, shops and pubs. I would definately return one day.

"A beautifully maintained property in a lovely setting."

Carwinnick Barn is set in tranquility and the property itself and the grounds are excellently maintained. The Barn is well equipped, very warm, comfortable and positioned within easy reach of the towns. Used as a base for walking The South West Coast Path, the property met all our needs and I would certainly consider staying there again.
