Description

Originally a farm workers cottage, parts of Trelissa date back to the 17th century so you will find beams, bread oven, slate floors and an abundance of character. The house is our family getaway, and so is simply furnished, with a well stocked kitchen as we enjoy cooking! There is ample room downstairs, and two staircases, each leading to two bedrooms and a bath or shower-room - so enough space for two families staying together. Tregonce is a tiny hamlet located on farmland above the estuary of the river Camel about a half mile away and a number of the windows have lovely views across countryside to the estuary. The Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway line between Padstow and Bodmin and is much loved by walkers (and dogs!) and cyclists.Although the location feels remote it is only a 15 minute drive to the shops, restaurants and galleries of Padstow and Wadebridge and also the delightful sandy beaches for which the North Coast is renowned. We go to Trevone, Constantine,

We go to Trevone, Constantine, Harlyn and Treyarnon Bay on the Padstow side. Polzeath, Rock and Daymer Bay, on the other side of the estuary, are in easy reach too. When the children were small, we would walk down to Padstow along the Camel Trail and get a taxi back - but now they are older, it is a lovely walk there and back (about 40 minutes each way), to have supper or lunch, or just a browse in the shops! There are two pubs in St Issey, one is within walking distance, though the footpath can get overgrown. North Cornwall is foodie paradise, with numerous amazing restaurants.

The garden has a grassed area and a terrace for outdoor eating.

Location description from owner

The England region

In recent times the county of Cornwall has become world famous for its great beaches, top surf spots, delicious local food, and laid-back way of life. Perfect for families.

Lovers of the ocean will be in their element exploring picturesque fishing villages, drinking local ales in smuggler's inns, sampling freshly caught seafood, taking on new water sports or simply losing track of time on Cornwall's 300 or so beautiful golden beaches.

Walkers will relish the longest stretch of continuous coastline in Britain on the South West Coast Path. Inland, hundreds of miles of paths reveal a lesser known Cornwall of rugged moorland, ancient market towns, tin mining heritage and fascinating remains of prehistoric cultures.

“Perfect!”

Reviewed 2 Apr 2014

We were really really pleased. The cottage was a lot larger than we thought it would be, and very spacious. Easily enough room for 8 adults. The Aga was great (plus a 'normal' cooker for when not feeling adventurous!) The area is remote, (Its Cornwall!) there are lovely walks, and its a short drive into Padstow. the Pickwick inn, just around the corner was excellent. Would love to go back.

“Absolutely fantastic and great value for money”

Trelissa is a true delight. It is homely and welcoming and very well equipped with plenty of room. We have had a wonderful holiday and cannot recommend the house highly enough. We look forward to our return.
