Description from owner

Description

This converted dairy is located in the tiny riverside hamlet of Elernion, the current farm buildings date back to 1564 and are named after St Elhern the local parish priest in the 7th century.

The dairy retains plenty of its character with beautiful 'A' frame trusses .

I would like to say its very quiet and peaceful, but the cows moo, the sheep baa and the river bubbles, its a fantastic little bit of heaven in north wales enjoying river/woodland views from the patio and garden area (with table/chairs) to the rear of the property – a lovely spot for sitting out.

The dairy is situated a short walk from the fishing village of Trefor, with its shop, pub/club, harbour and lovely beach. We are adjacent to the Welsh coastal Path and the dairy has access to 52 acres of woodland walks. The spectacular restored Welsh language center, a wonderful place for coffee overlooking the sea is just over the hill. For culture vultures, within easy reach is Caernarfon,

“Cottage in Trefor”

Reviewed 29 Mar 2017

This was a lovely little cottage in beautiful surroundings with easy access to a multiple of places to visit. Jeff was very helpful and a very nice man. The cottage could've done with a bit of cleaning but it was mostly just dusty. The bathroom and kitchen area were clean. It was very cold the first night, I suspect the cottage had been empty for a while and the electric heaters were turned on shortly before our arrival. We left the heaters on low all the time and after 24hrs it warmed up nicely. Unfortunately the shower was useless it only trickled out if you wanted it atleast tepid warm on the first night, after that it was either scalding hot or ice cold, that spoilt our stay really as in March you need a bit of warmth. We had to manage with a wash and no hair washing, not nice. It was too late to tell Jeff the first night it happened unfortunately he didn't hear me ring the bell the second night. The little garden out the back was badly overgrown and if you have a dog it is very hard to pick up dog poo because of this. The ground us also very uneven and because it is overgrown hard to see the holes. I also picked up a large shard of glass. The patio area is flat with a loose slate covering not much sun mostly shade but lovely sitting listening to the brook bubbling by. Not safe for children though.

Owner's reply: Sounds like I forgot to dust something, I’ve had my wrist slapped and hopefully it won’t happen again. The cottage is a little chilly on arrival, It was occupied prior to your arrival and in order to blow some fresh air through, all the windows and doors are left open in the four hours we have between guests. The guests before you and the guests after you have not had a problem with the electric shower, Its tested every change over. I suspect you are not used to electric showers which do not respond to repeated temp adjustment the same as a mixer shower, I apologise for not being around on the evening required, but you could have left a message on my mobile. If you find it hard to pick up dog poo in the garden, DON’T LET THE DOG POO IN THE GARDEN, children use the garden. We are in the country, take your dog for a walk and a poo (and pick it up) The grass was about 150mm high, we are trying to get it to look like a small wild flower meadow. Larger versions of which are in the woodlands. I’m sorry if you were expecting a manicured lawn with flower borders for your dog to poo on, but I have cut the grass and inspected for glass (not found any). The photo of the garden, patio and river, shows exactly how it is You state “Its not safe for children”. The cottage at Parc Elernion is part of an exciting, rewarding and educational experience suitable for children of all ages, but you have to be willing to supervise, teach and nurture them. Over the years we have listened to hundreds of children giggling and screaming in excitement whilst messing about in the river, or the woodlands and surrounding area. Perhaps if you had children with you during your stay, this would be self evident.
