This family seaside holiday house is in an excellent position within easy reach of various activities and shops. The main house which sleeps 10 can be rented on its own or, for additional accommodation, the ground floor West Wing can also be rented to sleep 4 more. Out of season the house can be rented for smaller numbers or short breaks. Good for two or three families together, small children, parties and anniversaries.

The main house contains a large kitchen / breakfast / sunroom, a large dining room capable of seating up to 18 people, and a sitting room with sky tv, dvd. There are two double bedrooms, two twin rooms and one which has both double and twin beds. The West Wing contains a tv room, and one double bedroom with en suite and 1 twin room

Broadband and wifi are installed; there is a decked balcony with sea and sunset views, front and enclosed rear gardens, and ample parking. Many of our tenants return regularly.

So what brings people back to visit Cornwall time and again?
Well, the climate is certainly the mildest in the UK but our summers aren't the hottest! So it must be a combination of natural attractions and a renaissance in arts and food in Cornwall.

Cornwall's beaches are unrivalled elsewhere in Britain for their beauty and variety. Beach towns such as Perranporth, Newquay and, right next to us, Polzeath are perhaps the best known of these; they are also excellent surfing beaches. Most beautiful are the tiny coves that dot the coastline like Coverack and Porthcurno (home of the Minack Theatre).

Also on the coast are some of the Duchy's most enchanting fishing villages and harbours; Looe, Portloe, Mevagissey, Tintagel, Cadgwith, Zennor and Mousehole are but a few. It's not just the villages that have something to offer those sightseeing. The towns (and city!) of Cornwall are rich in history and attractions of their own. Take nearby Padstow with it's picturesque harbour and Rick Stein. Then there is Truro, the only city in Cornwall where the cathedral still dominates the skyline.

For industrial herritage Redruth has few rivals. Once at the centre of the industrial revolution and the mining industry Redruth and Camborne have spent many years in decline but are finally bouncing back.

Penzance is one of the largest towns in Cornwall and has plenty to do and see. From the sub-tropical Morrab Gardens to the bustling fishing port of Newlyn you should find something of interest. It is also here that you can take a day trip to the Isles of Scilly plus it's within walking distance of Marazion and St Michael's Mount.

Bored of towns then check out the stately homes and gardens of Cornwall. The National Trust is very active in Cornwall and along with a host of independently owned tourist attractions you should find plenty to see and do.
Gardens worthy of mention include; The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Eden Project, Trelissick and Trebah. Stately homes include; Lanhydrock house, Prideaux Place and Pencarrow, all within easy reach.

Another unique draw of Cornwall is it's ancient past. The moorland countryside of West Cornwall and Bodmin Moor are littered with megalithic monuments such as standing stones, barrows and stone circles. Less ancient ruins that abound in Kernow are the leftovers of the mining industry, in many places these share the same sites the ancients chose to build on creating strange juxtapositions.

Trebetherick

Situated at the highest point in Trebetherick, Evergreen Lodge overlooks the Camel estuary and the Atlantic. Immediately opposite at St Moritz there is a restaurant, bar and new ‘Cowshed Spa’ with pool and other facilities. There is easy access by foot to nearby beaches. Greenaway the nearest beach is about 5mins by foot with great rock pools at low tide. This beach can only be accessed by foot down quite steep steps. Daymer Bay about 10 mins walk (with car park) is a wide sandy sheltered beach suitable for young children, also good for kite flying and windsurfing as well as paddling and swimming. Polzeath, also a 10 mins walk away and also with car park, is a famous centre for surfing, with excellent surfing schools. The Coastal Path which runs north and south of Trebetherick offering dramatic cliff top views of beaches and the Atlantic.

The house overlooks the famous St Enodoc Golf Course, with two 18 hole courses, and its historic church, resting place of the Poet Laureate, Sir John Betjeman. There are 2 other golf courses not far away.

Rock is only a short drive away, with its sailing club, water skiing and ferry (or water taxi by night) to Padstow, home of Rick Stein’s Seafood and other restaurants. From Padstow, the Camel Trail takes walkers, birdwatchers and cyclists (cycles can be hired) up the old railway track to Wadebridge and on to Bodmin.

Trebetherick is an ideal location from which to explore Cornwall, its National Trust cliff walks and properties such as Lanhydrock, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project, St Ives and even the Scilly Isles And many other attractions for all ages. Tintagel famous for King Arthur's Legend is a 30min drive away.

There is a post small shop and bus stop within 3 mins walk, pub 5 mins and a variety of shops, including mini supermarkets at Polzeath and Rock




Many local activies are available for holidaymakers including surfing, golf, sailing, windsurfing, kite-flying, water skiing. And a picnic on the beach is a must !

There is a store 3minutes walk away that has a range of provisions while local shops at Polzeath half a mile away and at Rock 3miles away provide a good variety of fresh and local produce. There are several pubs, restaurants and cafés nearby.

Many attractions of North Cornwall are within easy reach of this area. Padstow now famous now for the Rick Stein Seafood Restaurant and other enterprises is still a pretty Cornish harbour town and can be reached by a delightful ferry ride across the Estuary from Rock. There is a Water Taxi service available in the evening should you wish to visit Padstow in the evening. Rock itself also has many beach and watersport activites including sailing, water ski-ing and deep sea fishing trips.

For trips further afield in Cornwall the splendid National Trust Link shows details of many properties and gardens. The exciting new attractions of the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are easily manageable as half day or full day day outings.

“A wonderful house in a superb location”

We have been holidaying in Cornwall for a good few years and I have to say this is the best house we have stayed in.We are a group of 12 (3 families) with children ranging from 10 to 15 years. We all loved Evergreen Lodge. Kitchen-very well equipped with everything you could possibly need, plus a large breakfast table. Lounge area-plenty of chairs and settees. Dining room-had a table big enough to fit us all around and more! Media room-great for the kids. Bedrooms-all a good size and great to have linen and towels included. Good size garden, bbq, plenty of garden furniture and a lovely view from the balcony. We didn't need to use the cars during the week,as we had an Asda food delivery on arrival and the house is walking distance to Daymer Bay, Polzeath Beach and Rock ferry. We can recommend The Oyster Catcher and The White Heron (again both walking distance) for drinks and meals. To sum up a wonderful house in a superb location. Thank you for letting us stay.

When a longstanding tenant finally leaves us (family grown up, perhaps), leaving a space in our annual letting availability, it's lovely to welcome a new one, particularly when we get another excellent review, which we very much appreciate.

It was our turn (wife and myself) to choose the location and accommodation for our 14-strong walking group of friends. We were SO fortunate to discover Evergreen Lodge. It is located in a most beautiful part of England, ideal for magnificent coastal walks and also inland walking on the Camel Trail, on Bodmin Moor and elsewhere. The area is full of interest: historically (churches, John Betjeman, Bodmin Moor's tin mines and standing stones; Lanhydrock House (Bodmin), Beechingisation ...!); culinarily (Rick Stein in Padstow!, but we also had an excellent, inexpensive 'bar' meal at the St Moritz Hotel directly opposite Evergreen Lodge), botanically (the thrift and primroses along the coast were amazing in May, plus quite a few rareties); etc.. As for the house itself, it suited our group wonderfully. It was extremely comfortable despite its odd layout, being spacious, well equippped, clean and well serviced by its helpful caretaker, Jackie, who lives not far vaway and is available by phone to answer any queries. However, do beware that one of the bedrooms with twin beds is more child-sized than suited for comfort-seeking adults. The house affords magnificent views, and has a pleasant garden. See another review, more relevant to midsummer than May, though it was a delight to relax with a G&T or glass of wine on a garden.bench or chair of a May evening. The gate at the bottom of the garden affords easy access down towards the Camel estuary. A padlock on it might be a good idea for restricting toddler excursions in that direction. The local amenities include the village shop two minutes' walk away, and quite a good selection of shops plus post office in Rock , a short car ride away. Wadebridge provides good shopping with major retail chains and supermarkets, 20 minutes by car. All in all, my wife and I cannot recommend Evergreen Lodge too highly for a wonderful week's holiday for a largeish group.
