From the owner

The Villa was built in 2011 by a Jamaican family that has had a long-standing love and respect for Great Bay. It was built as a family vacation home that is rented to select very lucky guests.

The Villa is located directly on a wide and pristine sandy beach.

There are 4 air-conditioned bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms and views of the sea and the rolling green hills behind. Three of the bedrooms have a king-size bed and the fourth bedroom has two queen-size beds.

The Villa is equipped with wireless internet, television, apple TV, a fax machine and a landline. There are also a variety of DVDs and books for your use while you are there.

Go to sleep to the sound of the sea, wake to bird song, sip your morning coffee on a palm-frond verandah above the wide, sandy beach. Enjoy a drink made for you at the driftwood bar while you lounge on beach chairs in the private pool. Watch the fishermen of Great Bay prepare to go to sea, or meet them as they return with their catch, make a selection to be prepared for your dinner that same evening. Chat and feel the old Jamaican vibe, and experience the quiet pride in this very special part of St. Elizabeth.

Getting There:

The Villa is located in the small fishing village of Great Bay on the South Coast of Jamaica.

The closest international airport to the Villa is Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay. The Villa is approximately 60 miles from the airport and will take about 2.5 hours by car. This journey is a wonderful introduction to Jamaica with a most beautiful journey along the coast and through the mountainous border of the cockpit country. Rent a car or have a personal driver take you there showing you the local lore and attractions along the way. Ranny (a local driver) would be pleased to collect you from the airport for a local minimum rate.

By air it is about a 35 minute trip from MBJ on a private plane to the small local Lionel Densham airdrome, a 10 minute drive from the Villa. A private plane or helicopter is not as expensive as one might imagine and the views are spectacular. Again, we would be pleased to assist you in booking.

Things to do:

Aside from the beautiful beach, private pool and surrounding scenery, there is no lack of activities in close proximity to the Villa. The staff at the Villa would be pleased to make suggestions and assist in making arrangements. A few suggested activities include:

• Individual or guided tours of the headlands surrounding the Villa;

• Guided fishing;

• Taking a boat to Pelican Bar and enjoy a drink/food on a reef in the middle of the ocean;

• Lunch or dinner at Jakes, Jack Sprat or Little Ochi;

• Swimming in the beautiful YS Falls;

• Taking a guided boat tour of Black River and viewing the local wildlife;

• Sample the healing waters of Milk River Baths;

• Rent a kayak and explore the bays;

• Discover Lovers Leap; and

• Take a tour of the Appleton Estate Distillery.

What do the Rates Include?

The rental rate for the Villa includes the rental of the entire Villa including the pool and gazebo. It also includes four full time staff who will pamper you. While Miss Bev will be pleased to prepare all your meals and Randy would be pleased to mix you a delicious drink, you are responsible for your own groceries. A few weeks prior to your arrival, we will send you a menu selection form to complete. The staff will complete the grocery shopping required for your stay (at no additional charge to you). Guests are responsible for reimbursing the Villa for the cost of the groceries.

Check In and Check Out:

You may check in to the Villa after 3:00pm on your scheduled date of arrival. You must leave the Villa by 11:00am on your scheduled date of departure. Early check ins or late check outs may be arranged in advance but are at the sole discretion of the owners.

Maximum Occupancy:

No more than 8 guests may stay in the Villa. The owners may permit up to 10 guests to stay at the Villa for an additional fee of US$35 per night per guest over 8. However, there are no cots or hideaway beds available (other than a playpen/crib for an infant) and permission for additional guests must be obtained prior to arrival.

Staff Gratuity:

The rental rate for the Villa includes four full time staff from Great Bay: a cook, a housekeeper, a bartender and a gardener. Nannies are available upon request and at your own cost. In appreciation for the pampering and care you will receive from the staff, we recommend a 10% gratuity. You may pay the gratuity directly to the staff upon your departure.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Kate (the owner) a message.

If Kate (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
