Location description from owner

The England region

Eastbourne is often thought to be in a perfect spot for exploring the coastline, Sussex and Kent Countryside , its many wonderful unspoilt Villages and its historic Towns.
For overseas visitors, there is a car-ferry port at NEWHAVEN [ Transmanche Ferries ] , and at Dover.
Gatwick Airport has a direct train service to Eastbourne, which takes less than 1 hour.
London- Eastbourne fast train is about 1hr 26min.
By car, Gatwick to Eastbourne is approx 1 hour [ 48 miles ] , assuming you avoid the rush-hour traffic.

Town Centre

Eastbourne is a historic fashionable Town often said to achieve the highest Sunshine levels within the UK. Also a large busy town, its still possible to explore most of it on-foot. Having said that, car drivers can find easy parking , unlike cities such as Brighton or London.
What is striking about Eastbourne is just how unspoilt it is and how intact its buildings are.
The seafront is full of greenery and palm-trees - these survive because the cliffs of Beachy Head rise up towards the East and offer a great deal of Sea and Wind protection.
Many films compananies are using Eastbourne for locations because it is so unspoilt. Some films include the new Brighton Rock, Paul Raymond, Quadrophenia, Little Britain, Miss Marple, Eastenders, Christmas at the Riviera, etc.
The town centre is rammed full of all types of shops , cafes and restaurants.
It also has a large theatre thats always putting on great shows and musicals.
There is a town-centre Cinema that hasn't changed since the 80's and still uses a vintage ticket machine.
During the summer season a live orchestra plays popular classical music [weekly] on the seafront, followed by a firework display.
The Air show in August is also very popular.
Its Towner Art Gallery is recently built and in the Modernist style.

“Gorgeous Cottage and nicely equipped”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2014

My partner and I rented this cottage for a long weekend - We found it to be beautifully presented and very well equipped. There are plenty of local ameneties nearby and we found two really good restaurants. We rally enjoyed our stay and would rent this cottage again because of the high standard of accommodation and it's convenient location.
