“Wonderful stay”

Reviewed 7 Dec 2015

Greeted by helpful and friendly owners and the lodge was wonderful. All the positive feedback's that I had seen on tripadvisor proved to be right.

Thank-you for taking the time to post a review. It is always a pleasure to welcome guests to the Lodge. Glad you enjoyed it - come back again soon!

“Maple Lodge is a charming, convenient and comfortable place to stay.”

We had a lovely 3 day break at Maple Lodge. Chris welcomed us with a beaming smile and was on hand to help with enquiries about the locality while entirely respecting our privacy We enjoyed the wood panelling of the accommodation, adding a sense of warmth and relaxation to the very practical set-up. The village itself is just outside Milton Keynes, a pretty location offering interesting walks beside the canal. We look forward to staying again.

“Maple Lodge is comfortably perfect in every way.”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2015

Maple Lodge is tucked away for privacy, where mornings and evenings are spent in nothing but quiet comfort. The setting is so relaxing. We felt safe, and were free to roam about and enjoy the nearby pub, the canal, and all the sights of this lovely country village. Christine is a beautiful host. She and Andy provided each piece of information needed to get our bearings and feel welcome. I was impressed when Christine emailed us a few days before our trip to ask our preference. It was a wonderful surprise to arrive and find all of our favorite things in store. Everything was spotless, clean and fresh – and comfortably perfect in every way.

Thank-you for your honest review. It was lovely to meet you both and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

“Excellent place to switch off from the rat-race”

Reviewed 10 Nov 2014

Unusual, wooden 'chalet' (like the log cabins in Scandinavia). Well equipped - hob and microwave, no oven but that was easily dealt with - and right beside the canal for pleasant walks if you have time. Working in Milton Keynes on business, it provided a great place to unwind in the evening, but still have internet access if required. Pub on other side of the canal (through a foot tunnel!) was friendly with reasonable food and beer.

“Delightful Hideaway”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2014

My wife and I found this delightful spot when requiring somewhere to stay for a week at short notice. How fortunate we were! What was described as a “log cabin” turned out to be a Scandinavian-style wooden cottage with delightful knotted wooden interior throughout. Light and airy (and with a delightful wood aroma when entering) it had everything we needed - a comfortable bed in a separate bedroom, cooking facilities in the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge and a separate bathroom with a good shower. The cottage is in the grounds of the owners’ house with car parking and good security. The Grand Union canal with everything it offers for walking and interest is a couple of hundred yards along the road, and if you pass under the canal in the original horse tunnel and walk another hundred yards you arrive at Cosgrove village’s excellent Barley Mow pub. All this peace and tranquillity a few minutes’ drive from Milton Keynes! Landlords Chris and Andy couldn’t be more helpful and are great company, but discrete with it. Quality breakfast ingredients supplied were supplemented with vegetables from the garden and fresh eggs courtesy of the hens that roam freely around it. Maple Lodge was so pleasant we rented it as a base for a further three weeks upon returning from a week in Ireland. Thoroughly recommended!
