Description from manager

Description

This magnificent villa provides a standard of accommodation that is rarely found; its 5 bedrooms are luxurious, spacious and presented to reflect the classic nature of the property. Four of the bedrooms are doubles and the fifth provides twin beds. Undoubtedly key to the appeal of this property is its setting within a functional vineyard of 4 acres that produces some of the most sought-after wines in Portugal. The vineyard was acquired by the current owners in 1954 and it has stayed in the family ever since. This is quality accommodation that provides discerning guests with an opportunity to experience first-hand the pleasure of rural life in a magnificent, natural environment.

The Central Portugal region

Portugal has long been one of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations but it is only in more recent times that many tourists have discovered the huge appeal of the Silver Coast (Costa Prata). Given the vast stretches of perfect, shimmering sandy beaches the length of the Portuguese Silver Coast, its growing popularity certainly comes as no surprise. Benefiting from the most extraordinary natural landscapes, a rich cultural heritage, numerous unspoilt, charming Portuguese towns and extensive golf courses, visitors to the Silver Coast are able to find everything they could need to enjoy the perfect holiday.

Torres Vedras

The ancient town of Torres Vedras (Altitude: 66m/217ft), on the left bank of the Rio Sizandro, is about 60km/37mi north of Lisbon. It has a place in British military history as the base for Wellington's Torres Vedras Lines, fortified to defend Lisbon during the Peninsular War.

Visiting these regions bathed by the Atlantic and of rare scenic beauty, populated by hospitable people, constitutes a pleasant journey, recomforting and gratifying.
Fall in love with the gastronomical tastes, the simplicity of the arts & crafts and also the beauty of the cultural patrimony, but do not dispense of a revigorating stroll along the coastal border.

The most important municipal monuments are situated in the town of Torres Vedras, of which stand out various churches and existing convents, the aqueduct, the medieval castle and the fort of S. Vincente. In the remaining parishes you will also find points of great tourist and cultural interest. From Assenta beach to Porto Novo and passing through Azul beach through Santa Cruz beach. From the patrimony stand out the "Castro de Zambujal", the ruins of the "Convento de Penafirme" to "Azenha de Santa Cruz", the home of the Military Veterans in Runa, the various wind-mills, or the Turcifal manor-houses.

There is a vast wealth of history and culture in the area and there are many beautiful and picturesque towns too. Below are just some of the many suggestions for a day out in the Silver Coast:

The UNESCO world heritage site Sintra with 2 palaces (70kms).

The beautiful medieval borough Óbidos (45 kms).

Foz D'Arelho with the stunning Obidos Lagoon (60 kms).

The palace, the church and the convent of Mafra (33 kms)

Peniche, famous for surfing and the renowned 'supertubos' wave (63 kms). From here you can catch a boat to the Berlengas Islands - a nature reserve.

Lisbon (54 kms).

The Gothic city Santarém and the museum house of Alpiarça (67 kms)
