Description

Coastguard Cottages sit on Daddyhole Plain, a local beauty spot with oustanding sea views overlooking Torbay; it is a large open area ideal for ball games & kite flying etc. Torquay's most famous daughter, author Agatha Christie, spent endless summers swimming at Meadfoot Beach and exploring 'Rock End', the cliffside walk linking Daddyhole Plain to the imposing 'London Bridge', a natural rock arch jutting out to sea, and the picturesque harbour of Torquay. There are numerous attractions nearby including the steam train to Dartmouth, Paignton Zoo, Babbacome Model Village and the Quaywest Centre.

Our cottages have recently been refurbished to a high standard and sleep up to 7 people + 2 in sofa bed. We are more than happy to accommodate young children and pets.

We have some flexibility in numbers of guests with use of sofa bed if needed. We also have a cottage in Mevagissey available should this cottage be booked when you want to go. Just email

“Lovely Cottage with Beautiful Views”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2013

We spent an enjoyable fortnight at this lovely cottage. The views of the bay were fantastic, especially from the main bedroom. Well equipped kitchen & bathroom. Spacious bedrooms with plenty of storage. Great to have Daddyhole Plain in front of the cottage for the children to play on safely. Short walk down to the (shingle) beach in one direction and beautiful cliff path in the other.

“Fantastic location but the property needs some DIY and TLC!”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2013

We had a fantastic first holiday here with our 10 month old baby who loved Daddyhole plain, the seagulls and dogs! We loved the views and the accessibility of the town of Torquay, the ferry ride to Brixham and Paignton zoo. We were disappointed however with the dog hairs in the carpet, the slightly tired look to the property and the fact that it needed some DIY.

Owner's reply: I am glad you loved the views, Daddyhole Plain and the closeness to the Torquay. Sorry about the dog hairs, we have changed our cleaner recently so this will not be a problem in future. Since your visit we have had some redecoration so if you do come again the property will look less tired.

“Last minute holiday with children”

Lovely cottage in a fabulous scenic location and within 10 minutes of a quiet and secluded pebbled beach.

“Outstanding location”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2013

We stayed for a week with our children. I have to say a great location for a holiday cottage, perched high on a cliff with outstanding sea views with a very large park area right outside perfect for children to play safely whilst we can relax. No traffic and so quiet. The cottage was very spacious and we made use of the space by inviting friends to stay whilst we were on holiday. We had lovely BBQ's outside and only had to walk a short trip in Torquay town centre. The cottage was well equipped and beds very comfortable. The kids loved the bunk beds. We will be recommending this cottage to all our fiends and will be back at half term if available. Wells done one of the best holidays the family have ever had.
