Location description from owner

The English Riviera region

Blessed with such wonderful scenery and gentle climate, it's no surprise that South Devon has been attracting visitors for over 250 years. The contrast of river estuaries, rolling hills and lovely old towns combined with long warm summers and mild winters make South Devon the perfect year-round holiday destination.

South Devon has some of the most beautiful beaches in the country - from tiny sheltered coves to great sweeps of golden sands and long stretches of pebbles and shingle. Many of the beaches have passed tough tests to prove that they are also some of the safest and cleanest.

Torquay

Torquay in Devon is often referred to as the "Queen of the Riviera". For centuries a popular destination for coastal holidays, Torquay was the birthplace and home of internationally- renowned crime writer Agatha Christie, and is steeped in history, from the awe-inspiring caves of Kents Cavern, to the World War II slipways at Beacon Quay. With so much culture, history, and an amazing nine beaches to choose from, Devon's Torquay really is the perfect place to relax on holiday.

The town is famed for its situation among seven green hills, from where grand Victorian villas and terraces gaze out to sea. Palm-lined promenades lead to the lively harbourside and marina, where pavement cafes abound, in addition to a range of top class restaurants.

“Lovely house, nicely decorated & located”

Reviewed 5 Nov 2012

This is a lovely house. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds really comfortable with sumptuous duvets. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed; the equipment was up-to-date and easy to operate. The only suggestion I could make is it would have been handy to have had children's plastic plates, cups & bowls. The lounge was furnished to a high standard and very comfortable for all the family. Lovely welcome hamper & the grandchildren loved their halloween chocolate spiders! This property is ideally located for the many attractions torquay has to offer, all in all a perfect location.

Owner's reply: We were very pleased to see that you found St Christophers to be so comfortable, well-equipped and well-located in Torquay. We will certainly make sure to provide some children’s bowls etc. and are grateful for the suggestion. Thank you for taking the trouble to write a review and we hope to welcome you back again soon.

“stormy Torquay”

Reviewed 24 Jun 2012

This is a lovely property. The bedrooms were attractively decorated with thought to detail and the beds really cosy and comfortable. The cot was substantial for our youngest holiday-maker. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed; the equipment was up-to-date and easy to operate. The dining table was a bit of a squash with ten of us but the highchair was a sturdy model. It was also difficult for us all to sit comfortably together to talk or to watch TV. There was a good selection of films/games for all ages. Some of the furniture was not toddler-friendly (sharp corners at head-height, glass table). We thought the small welcome hamper and the commemorative tins of chocolates for the children such thoughtful, personal touches. As we were holidaying over the Jubilee week the house had been decorated with bunting! If only the weather had been good enough to use the barbecue or even get in the garden, which was ideal for the small children in our party, being totally enclosed and level. This property is ideally placed for getting to the harbour, beaches, shops and restaurants, and with so much to do and see in the vicinity it has a perfect location.

Owner's reply: We were delighted to see that you liked St Christophers so much and enjoyed the great location. Thank you for taking the time to post such a helpful review and, with your comments in mind, we have adjusted our website to show that the living room seating is suitable for up to 9 people. Torbay is a great place to come when the weather isn’t perfect and we are glad that you found plenty to do. Hope to see you again one day.

“Delightful accommodation in very convenient position”

Reviewed 19 May 2012

We are six 50+ year old ladies, friends since school who like to get away together now and again. We chose St. Christophers because it met our requirements of enough bedrooms, bathrooms and close proximity to coastal walks and restaurants. Whilst we enjoyed our meals out, we also enjoyed eating in. This was due to the kitchen and dining areas being very comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. When the weather allowed, we ate on the private patio. Our overall impression of St. Christophers was of clean and bright and well equipped accommodation which was tastefully decorated and furnished. We also found the owners very pleasant to deal with.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the trouble to post a review for St Christophers and we are very pleased to see that you had a great time here and found the house to be so comfortable and well situated. We hope that you will all come again before too long and, in the meantime, you may be interested in our Facebook page, reached by a link on our website.
