The English Riviera region
Devon is Great Britain's third biggest county and has a wide range of landscapes. From the moors to the seaside sand dunes, from the buzzing cities to the sleepy coastal towns and villages, Devon can provide an all-round holiday experience.
The cities of Exeter and Plymouth both provide a delightful combination of rich heritage and modern excitement. All the coastal towns have lively harbours and local produce so you can have the real Devon experience.
Devon is also home to two national parks. Dartmoor in the south and Exmoor in the north both provide wonderful walks for the lovers of wildlife and the countryside.
So with two coastlines, two national parks, and two cities, there are how many reasons not to visit Devon? That's right, none!
The English Riviera town of Torquay (sometimes said to have a Mediterranean feel) is located in Tor Bay on the south Devon coastline.
Across the English Riviera there are 20 beaches. Nearly all of those that are in and around Torquay are linked by the South West Coast path. On this you can experience breath-taking views and excellent walking.
In the town there are numerous waterfront cafes and restaurants for you to sit and laze around in. Or alternatively, there are activities in abundance. From Water sports to fishing, Torquay can satisfy any persons needs.

"fantastic views from a contemporary stylish property"
stayed for a week in july 2015. this is a wonderful place to stay if only for the view from the main room or from the table in the graden. could have sat there for hours for breakfast or just looking at the lights over an evening coffee and brandy. the accommodation is stylish and contemporary but also comfortable and homely. everything provided for cooking and eating, washing and cleaning ( if you need to do any of that) dishwasher and washing machine too. a welcome pack of drinks and milk was provided, also and an offer from the owner to pick us any other shopping up prior to arrival. the bedroom is large with a comfy bed and lovely crisp white linen. plenty of wardrobe space, adjoining bathroom and walk in shower. It also has a view over the bay. there is also a downstairs bathroom with a bath. the spiral staircase was fun but unsuitable for the fuller figure. owners took the cases upstairs via their adjoining house as it would have been tricky up the spiral staircase. the large downstairs open plan area had a large screen TV and a small sofa at one end with the kitchen and eating area at the other all decorated in a white and blue nautical theme. massive full length, fully folding glass doors with blinds offering beautiful views - we didn't open them due to being unlucky with the weather, but there were instructions! a small visitors section of the garden with seating and sunchairs overlooked the bay with parking space. the property is adjoining the main house and although Sarah was around most of the time if we needed anything, we didn't see much of our neighbours. if you don't like hills and walking, take a car, but you can walk to most places within 30 minutes (including walking the coastal path from right outside the door). beaches, shops, pubs, restaurants, bus stops, theatres and other local places of interest all in walking distance or short drive. as well as walking, we bought a weekly bus ticket for £17.50 each and explored the whole of Torbay from Dawlish Warren to Dartmouth. We usually did the walk up the hill from the bus stop but occasionally got a taxi for between £6.20-£8.50 ( couldn't work out the difference in pricing but use private cabs not the ones outside Debenhams if possible) free wifi easy to connect for those who worry about those sort of things. all in all a fantastic place to stay.

Sea Spray is an exceptionally clean and comfy accommodation. The owners are so welcoming and helpful and nothing was to much trouble. It was lovely to see the sea from the property and we enjoyed a relaxing breakfast in the garden. Torquay is just a short drive away and has plenty for everyone to enjoy. Lots of extra touches in the property like games and books. A lovely place to explore this part of Devon .
