Location description from owner

The English Riviera region

Devon is one of the most beautiful parts of the West Country. Every year thousand of holidaymakers flock to Devon to relax and enjoy a few days in the sun, and, with its amazing scenery, warm climate and wealth of activities it's not hard to see why Devon is a preferred choice.

Devon has a wealth of coastal towns and villages many award winning and all within driving distance. In the centre of Devon is the beautiful Dartmoor and only 20 mins from Torquay with the eye catching tors, hills, wildlife and little villages and historic churches.

The Jewel of the crown of Devon is the English Riviera which hosts Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, not forgetting the Historic and picturesque village of Cockington.

The heart of the town is the harbour which is lined with cafes, bars and restaurants; a great place to watch the world go by. From here, take a pleasant stroll along the marina with the area's trademark palm trees, or hop on a boat for a cruise across the bay or round to Dartmouth.

Meet the Penguins and other wildlife at the The Living Coasts which is only 2 mins from apartment, or go see a top rated show at the Princess Theatre, or go shopping at the famous harbourside Pavilion. Fancy a walk along the harbour and onto Torre Abbey Sandy beach and then to the historic Torre Abbey itself, or even an Agatha Christie boat tour? all within walking distance from the apartment. With five Torquay beaches currently holding Blue Flag Awards for cleanliness and quality, you really are spoilt for choice.

Torquay is host to many more attractions,so why not explore the world in miniature at Babbacombe Model Village, or unearth prehistoric remains at the famous caves Kents Cavern where they also do ghost tours in the summer months (not to be missed), or look through the history at the Torquay Museum.

No holiday to The English Riviera would be complete without a visit to Cockington. This idyllic village is hidden in a deep valley just one mile from the bustle of Torquay. Cockington court has 450 acres of parkland, woodland and lakes to explore. In the centre of Cockington amongst the pretty thatched cottages stands Cockington Forge. This is one of the most photographed buildings in the country, and dates from the 14th century. At the end of the cricket field is the stately manor house, Cockington Court. These are open 7 days a week, free of charge and feature handcrafted glassware, Paintings, and handmade jewellery to name but a few.

“Like being at home but at the seaside!!”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2016

I took my Mum and eldest brother to stay at 20 Trinity Mews in Torquay, and I have to say that we all had a fantastic visit. What made it extra special was just how at home we felt in the flat, which is largely due to the decor by the owners. We honestly only expected the basic facilities, but when we arrived we were surprised to see a small DVD collection of the owners choice, a Nintendo Wii console with a good selection of games as well as amenities that are normally overlooked like an iron and a clothes airier. The beds in every room were well made, and very comfortable and we even noticed that there were a few board games and a toy box in the small bedroom for the kids in the case of a rainy day. Obviously these things belonged to the owners as it is their own holiday home, but we were very blown away by the fact that they had left them there for us who were simply guests who they had never met. All in all it was these little touches that gave the flat a very homely feel and so we knew that we were not wanting for anything whilst we were there. The flat itself is located just a few minutes walk away from the harbour, and within walking distance (5 minutes) there are convenience stores (Mccols), numerous pubs and restaurants as well as takeaways and coffee shops. It is worth noting that you are located half way up Trinity Hill, and the hills in Torquay are quite steep so if you have trouble walking or are in a wheelchair then this might be a difficult location for you. That being said though, if you are able bodied then you can be on the main stretch within 5 minutes casual walking and in the centre of the town in about 10-15 mins. The area itself is very quiet too as it is next door to the Trinity Church and so there are no late night noises to be worried about. The flats are also very secure and require either a key or a passcode to enter into the courtyard where the flats are located. Parking is not actually onsite but is rather on the streets that are either side of the property, but these spaces are monitored by wardens and are there specifically for people who have a pass. In the week that we were there, we never struggled to get a space at all. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who is looking for a nice and relaxing holiday and I would love to go back again in the near future.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a comprehensive review, as you say the apartment is also our holiday home so we ensure that it is a home from home. We will continue to update the apartment, and of course all visitors are welcome to use all it has to offer. We have had a great summer, and there is so much to do also I. autumn and winter, with shows, theatres, entertainment open all year in Torquay, I just wish we had more time to visit ourselves.

“Great apartment, well priced”

Apartment great, right size, right area if not got a car. Clean and comfortable. All mod cons in the kitchen and great to have Wifi, plenty of DVD;s if weather rubbish which it was while we were there unfortunately

Thank you for your feedback. The apartment is fully equipped for all ages inc dvd's, a Wii, and a games box for those days the heat British weather throws us a curve ball.

“Fantastic accomodation, close to everything”

Stayed for 3 nights in March with our granddaughter..Everything wee needed was under one roof, spacious apartment with all mod cons. Lovely & clean on arrival. Parking was ourside the apartment and we had a free permit to use throughout our stay. A great base for exploring, close to the harbour & town centre..

many thanks for your feedback. We always keep all the mod cons up to date, and regularly review feedback. We always supply parking permits so you will always have no problem parking for all of your stay. We have also recently updated all the toys in the apartment as well as increase substantially the number of Wii games for the kids and a new cd player with cd's for the family. Looking forward to sharing our holiday home for 2014

“Terrific Torquay - delivers what it promises”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2013

Everything about this place was good - even the weather did it's bit! Perhaps the hill to the property would be a downer (or upper) for some but we found the walk invigorating! I loved this place because of its amenities, cleanliness and all round excellent service.

Thanks for the feedback, theres some lovely walks around Torquay and Torbay. We always listen to feedback on what essentials are needed in the apt. This yr we have added, toys, Wifi, free parking tickets, tourist information leaflet stand, a new guest information book, some historic pictures, postcards and flyers from Torquay in the old days, brand new oven, hob and fridge freezer, fire extinguisher, etc. Please keep the ideas coming.

“Beautiful appartment, great location!”

Reviewed 19 Feb 2013

20 Trinity Mews is a beautiful modern apartment also very private and secure due to the big gates and password combinations. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! great location close to harbor and all amenities! lovely powerful shower and clean through out! having the wii and free wifi was a great bonus when the weather wasn't so great! However mattress cover was very noisy like sleeping on newspaper, waking us up when one turned over and some noise from next door late at night and early morning! however this did not ruin our stay! parking was an issue there was never any parking to the front of the apartment however we were lucky to find a space at the back most nights. just a short walk away! the free parking permits are great and an absolute must! a lovely spacious apartment and at a great price! well recommended. Thank you for a lovely stay x

Thankyou for your kind words and feedback. We have now replaced all matress protectors to cotton ones where you will not know they are there. There are plenty of parking spaces, especially around the back, and all permits are now free for guests and are in the guest book. there is a back gate to the Mews, so parking around the back is usually the most convenient. Thanks

“Great apartment, excellent location & really helpful owners”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2012

Apartment was very near the harbour and amenities. Easy to find and get into and good instructions on arrival. It was great to be able to park in the courtyard for unloading and loading. Always found somewhere to park though sometimes had to look for a while. Apartment great for teenagers (with DVD, wi-fi and wii). Bedrooms very comfortable and a good size. Living room area very comfortable & good bathroom. Kitchen was small for a family of 4 but it was adequate (we ate out a lot) and again it was very well equipped, including a washing machine. Apartment was on a hill which was no problem for us but might be more challenging for anyone who has 'bad knees'. The owners were really helpful from the start and were easy to get hold of, always responding to queries fairly quickly. I'd definitely stay here again. Best restaurant for families: Harvester at the harbour (good salad bar and reasonably priced for 4 people). Best activity: Ghost walk at Kent Caverns (very funny)

Thanks for the feedback, we always try to answer any queries as soon as we can, we are a small family who also use the Mews as our holiday home, so its essential that we ensure that all guests feel like its a home from home. The Mews is on a little steep hill, as is most of Torquay, but we are very very close to the harbour, sea front, attractions, making the location perfect, but very secure, as the only way to enter the complex is by a secure gate. Many Thanks

“Modern accommodation in a central location.”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2012

Booked for it's location which was ideal. We parked somewhere different every day but always got a space in the streets close by. It is great to be able to walk down to the harbour, shops and restaurants. Accommodation had everything we needed. We have stayed in Devon before but had to travel quite a few miles every day to get to attractions. Here you are so close to lots of places and we hardly did any miles at all whcih the kids were pleased about. Some lovely beaches close which are great if you get the weather. Wii very popular with the kids as we don't have one so it was a treat. Owners very efficient and accommodating. Everything met our expectations and we had a good holiday.

Thanks for the kind feedback. As well as the wii, we have now put in a toy box, with games, drawing facilities, puzzles, dolls etc to keep the younger ones ammused in the apartment. Were always happy to add anything based on feedback from guests. Thanks

“Great little apartment”

Reviewed 4 Mar 2012

What a great little find. I was travelling on Business but decided to take my parents for a break, we all thought is was lovely. Only problem was the hills - but then don't go to Torquay:-) Highly recommended and will use again

thanks very much, and we agree, Torquay is mostly on a hill, and I guess the benefit of our apartment is that were very close to the seas front and harbour, so the hill is minimal. Many Thanks

we stayed 2 weeks for christmas and had a lovely time.lovely clean tidy and cosy cottage and had xmas tree waiting for us which was very thoughtful and a great gesture. Neigbours were polite and nice and everything you needed locally like pubs amusements restaurants and more. Harbour and beach just around the corner and would highly recommend a stay for a wonderful holiday.

Thanks, as we try and make it a home from home, I travelled down to ensure it was decorated and felt christmassy for our xmas guests. Positive feedback is important to us, so we aim to ensure guests feel its a home from home. Thanks
