The Valencian Country region

The Marina Alta, the northernmost region of the Alicante Province, takes in the popular sandy beaches of the Costa Blanca with its tourist centres: Denia, Calpe and Javea. Inland are the quieter villages of the Orba and Jalon valley surrounded by farmland and mountains.The restaurants of the Marina Alta are among the best in the country, benefiting from fresh fish and seafood, locally grown fruit and vegetables, and creative chefs; and those in search of beautiful landscapes will find the region to their taste, too.

Tormos

The charming village of Orba is located in the province of Alicante, 154 metres above sea level. It belongs to the city of Denia (which is 18 km away); to the North are the villages of Tormos and Pego, to the South, Murla and Alcalali, to the East is the village of Benidoleig and to the West, Vall de Ebo and Vall de la Laguart. Tormos is situated approximately 1 hour from Alicante and Valencia Airports. The nearest main towns are Denia and Oliva situated between the two and 20 minutes to the STUNNING BLUE FLAG BEACHES. The village is quiet and traditional with an Ajuntament (town hall), restaurant, a few shops, church, medical centre and plenty of beautiful walks.

Markets:

Most local towns will have a market the largest in this area is Pedreguer Sunday market day, the market is held in the poligono part of town which is easily accessed off the N332 this is the coast road that runs parallel with the AP7. People flock from all over the Costa Blanca and Costa Valencia, the market has an abundance of fruit and vegetable in fact we get bags of them for a few euros. Various other market stalls and Rastro stalls. A large selection of shopping for everyone.

Restaurants;

Bar Almassera Tormos this is the local restaurant and they serve traditional tapas or menu a la carte, friendly and very sociable. El Cid bar and Restaurant in Benidoleig is a super entertaining place to go in the summer months they hold various activities such as BBQ, quiz nights, Caribbean nights, fish and chip nights (best fish n chips I have had here is Spain) Sunday is roast day where they do a carvery. The staff are always friendly warm and welcoming. BB Restaurant El Verger the best chicken and very affordable, this place gets packed with locals and is busy all year round. The red wine is delicious and their chicken is cooked slowly on a spit roast with a range of beautiful spices and in marinade so it stays moist and succulent. These are just a few to speak of. When you have booked with us we can tell you about other fantastic places to eat.

Fiestas;

The main fiesta here is held in honour of its patron San Luis Beltran during the first week of September. The streets are dressed with lights and colour and the locals participate in festivals. Activities .Hiking is very popular on the mountain behind Tormos, there are walks for all levels and most people walk round to the cave which overlooks the coastline from Denia to Valencia.

Golf;

There is a choice of two golf courses within 20 minutes' drive they are: La Sella Golf Course was designed by the prolific José María Olazábal in 1991. La Sella is one of the most important courses designed by the double champion of the Masters in Agusta. Enjoy in Denia a 27-hole round of golf, known internationally for its excellent conditions for playing golf throughout the year. Its 6,289 metres has been played by the top names in European golf. La Sella Golf has been headquarters of the Peugeot Circuit since 2007 and has hosted national team events and other big events. It is a wide and varied course, located in an area which is protected. Its design is appropriate for all levels of players. The 27 holed La Sella Golf Club is surrounded by a Mediterranean ecosystem of woods and mountains and is flanked by the impressive Montgó Natural Park. From every corner of the course you can see different species of olive trees, orange trees and almond trees, which makes this course, along with the pleasant climate, a golfers paradise. And Oliva Nova Golf Course has 9 or 18 holes and you can choose which you wish to play, designed by world famous Spanish golfer Seve Ballesteros. The course is next to the beach situated on a 5 star complex; there is a driving range, professional coaches for lessons for all abilities.

Tennis;

La Sella boasts 6 international standard clay courts and 2 astro tennis courts. Coaching is available in English and various other languages and for all standards. Horses;

Equestrian Centre Oliva Nova has the world’s best riders will gather in the Equestrian Centre Oliva Nova. The MET 2014 will count on the representation of riders from Germany, France, Spain, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, USA, Portugal, Russia, Turkey, Malaysia, Chile, South Africa and Switzerland, amongst others. All together about 350 male and female riders from 44 countries and five continents as well as a total of more than 2,000 horses from the world’s best stables will participate in an intense schedule of international competitions in Show Jumping and Young Horses.

Walking, Hiking and Cycling;

The winter months here in Spain are ideal for these activities as the weather is beautiful temperatures can still be in the early 20s during the sunny days and we do get a lot of those. Castle walks, hiking groups, and cycle routes the area is very popular for these activities. There is a group called the U3A that have these groups look at their website and become a member for just a few euros a year.

Activities:

Along the N332 towards Oliva is Oliva Karting, you can book groups or just go along and enquire about a fun day out. Water Parks and Theme Parks are only 40 minutes away in Benidorm. Aqualandia and Terra Mitica. Aqualandia is a great day out if you have children or grandchildren or just want to go for fun. It has the tallest water shoot in Europe and a vertical slide which just drops. Terra Mitica has roller coasters, swinging rides, dropping rides and pretty much everything else you can think of.

Beaches;

What a fabulous choice of beaches to go to. You are in the middle of Denia and Oliva 24km of BLUE FLAG BEACHES. Starting from Denia Les Rotes this is a marine reserve section of the coastline, no boats are allowed to moor this is for snorkelling, diving, paddle boarding and the coastline here is rocky so a beach chair will make the stay comfortable. It is protected and is very picturesque with a few restaurants overlooking the blue sea and dramatic cliff faces. There is a walk from Denia Marina all the way to the lighthouse. Denia Marina you can spend a whole day here just eating, watching the boats, walking along the boardwalk to the lighthouse. You can hire a chartered yacht for the day, go out on a Catamaran or hire jet skis. There are various restaurants and a few shops to browse. The marina caters for lifting the larger yachts out for the water for maintenance as established with clients who have a 70ft yacht. Denia also has the dinghy competitions and various other sailing activities. Les Marines is beautiful sandy beaches all the way up to Els Poblets, along this section of the coast it is popular with tourists as there are many restaurants, shops, kite surfing, quiet sunbathing sections and during the summer months there are sun loungers and parasols to hire so you do not need to take a load of things down to the beach with you. Els Poblets here is a pebble beach and you can get your small dinghy or boat into the water easily. There are restaurants, wind surfing and various other activities. Deveses is another section of golden beaches with shops, bars and restaurants set back off the beach again very popular in the summer months with people from Madrid who are escaping the terrific heat of Madrid. There are sun loungers and parasols to hire along this section...

“Excellent stay”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2013

Staying at Mirador was lovely and relaxing. We stayed in the large apartment that was fully appointed with every thing you could need. Well stocked kitchen large living room, big bedroom with comfortable beds and lots of closet space. Big bathroom with bathtub and shower. Everything was exceptionally clean and lots of nice little touches to make our stay more comfortable, big bath towels, tea & coffee and many many more. Lots to see and do in the area and great restaurants, would highly recommend Temple. Ken and Annette are wonderful hosts and took care of us like old friends. Will most definitely return.

It was our sincere pleasure to welcome you, we strive to ensure that our guests are well looked after and comfortable, so are most pleased to have your lovely comments.
