Description

Six Trees Cottage is one of a group of distinctive rural cottages sitting alongside the eye-catching Tormore distillery and commanding a panoramic view of the Spey valley. The cottage has a spacious sitting room furnished in a modern style with red leather sofas, oak furniture and a wood-burning stove. The large, bright kitchen/dining room is exceptionally well-equipped and with its wide breakfast bar and pine dining furniture makes a real social event of mealtimes. It also has a wonderful view from the double window. A separate utility room houses a washing machine and tumble drier. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 with king-size beds and the third offering options of single, twin or super-king double. The family bathroom has elegant fitted units and there is also a downstairs toilet. From the bedroom windows the early riser can watch the mist lift across the valley to reveal the slopes beyond, or the roe deer grazing at the edge of the forest behind the house.

The cottage provides a real Highland getaway at the start of the Malt Whisky Trail and on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park. There are golf courses close by at Ballindalloch, Grantown and Boat of Garten. For walkers, the Speyside Way is on the doorstep and the River Spey offers excellent fishing for anglers. It is a short drive to a wide range of other outdoor pursuits, museums and castles as well as the shops and restaurants in and around Grantown-on-Spey and Aberlour. The cottage is ideal for a rural retreat for couples, or for groups of families and friends who like getting together to relax and have fun.

We have equipped the house to take groups of up to 6 people by providing a combination of beds and sofa- bed to allow flexible sleeping arrangements: for example, the third bedroom, although not large, can have a single, twin or very large double. The full sized sofa bed allows extra sleeping space to suit mixed groups. The seating in the lounge can be amplified by the use of 2 cube stools.

There is a small selection of games, books and DVDS. There is WiFi but it can only be used for emails and browsing. There is also a folder with leaflets about all the attractions of the surrounding area and some recommendations for restaurants we have enjoyed.

We have equipped the house for our own family to enjoy and all the basics that you need in a holiday home are there - salt, pepper, coffee, tea oil, kitchen towels, bread in the freezer etc . We only ask that guests replace them when they are running out .

There is one family bathroom and a WC downstairs.

A grassed garden area with the 6 trees runs from front to back: the back is a suntrap on good days, and garden furniture is kept in the garage.

Tormore distillery was built in 1958 and was the first new distillery to be built in Scotland in the 20th century. The houses, known as distillery cottages, were built for the workers. Richardson Road is named after the architect , Sir Arthur Richardson. The distillery itself is distinctive, with its white frontage, musical clock ( you can't hear it inside the houses!), fountain, and bushes and trees trimmed to the shapes of barrels and stills..

We live in Linlithgow but we and our family stay at the cottage regularly as it is our holiday home. We have a local lady who looks after the cottage for us and is always available to help if any issues arise for guests. We are also available by phone and email. Wonderful welcoming cottage. Owners of the cottage sent us all route information for our journey there. The house was of a good size.fully equiped with everything you need. Plenty of board games and Dvds. Scenary stunning. Very nice neighbour Wayne who showed my granddaughter the farm animals and gave us some usefull information of the area. We really loved staying at Six Trees Cottage and would definately stay there again in the near future. Avril & Chris

From the very moment we inquired about staying at Six Trees Cottage, Patricia (the owner) couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. That continued right up until our stay, with quick replies to my emails containing excellent directions and helpful suggestions for places to eat during our stay and some of the best places to buy supplies. The cottage itself is really well maintained and the fact that the owners also use it as their getaway cottage means that you can immediately tell that the place is loved and well cared for. Our party included six adults and we all found the cottage to be clean (including reassurance that Covid-19 standards were being maintained), comfortable and very well equipped. It very quickly became our home from home and whether sitting ‘out the back’ in the sun, eating together in the dining area, or round the table in the spacious living room playing games, we enjoyed every second of being there. One of the features that we enjoyed most about the cottage is that it isn’t actually in one of the towns or villages, instead being perfectly central for a 15 minute trip by car to Grantown, or 10 minutes to Aberlour. That meant that we really felt like we had the place to ourselves, with beautiful uninterrupted views of the stunning landscape. With there being very little light pollution, myself and my daughter also took the opportunity to star gaze one clear night, spotting planets and constellations while standing only a few metres from the front door. Grantown itself is lovely, with lots of friendly local shops and eateries, while we also enjoyed our visit to Aberlour and its distillery. I don’t think we travelled further than 20 miles from the cottage on any day we were there but still managed to visit two stunning castles (one with beautiful gardens), Pictish Stones, two distilleries, went on lots of lovely walks and ate lots of great food. Not bad for 4 days!

Six Cottages is a delightful home away from home situated in the heart of speyside. Convenient access for distillery tours or to visit the Cairgnorms National Park. The owners have made sure the cottage is equipped with all the essentials. This was the first time my husband and I stayed in a self catering and he was very hesitant about it. After just one night he was convinced and is looking forward to our next self catering stay. The cottage was clean and well maintained.

This home was stunning, so comfortable the pictures can’t really do it justice. The well equipped kitchen and comfy spacious lounge allow for great family time. Just a short distance from Aberlour, Grantown-on-Spey make for a lovely stroll. Whisky livers will be in heaven with all the distilleries on their doorstep and stunning drives to see them. Bird lovers can enjoy themselves at RSPB Loch Garten. A short drive and you are in Aviemore and the Cairngorm national park. You wake to amazing views and can end your day watching the sun go behind the forests and hills. Our only suggestion for added luxury would be replacing the mattresses in the two larger bedrooms which were quite thin but others may find these comfy. Definitely recommend it for a visit.

A very comfortable and spacious cottage in a wonderful location. The area is excellent for scenery, hill walking, history and scotch whisky! The large lounge and spacious dining kitchen easily accommodated the six of us.
