The Province of Leinster region
With everything from stunning beaches and family activities, to fascinating history, Wexford has something unique for every visitor.
The lure of Ireland’s sunniest weather sees holidaymakers flock here to the famously long beaches. Or if your idea of a great break is to delve into history there are top attractions including Hook Head lighthouse, the Irish National Heritage Park, and the Dunbrody Famine Ship.
The Wexford Festival Opera and New Ross Piano Festivals are slices of high culture, while the Duncannon Sand Sculpting Festival, the Strawberry Festival, and the Kilmore Quay Seafood Festival offer something for all the family.
It is less than 1km from the house to the historic Tacumshane Windmill, the only surviving complete wind-driven corn mill in Ireland. A rare feature of this windmill is its revolving roof, which could be turned to face the sails into the wind. In 1948 it was placed in the guardianship of the Commissioner of Public Works for preservation as a national monument. If you would like to visit this unique attraction, the key is available from the neighbouring Meyler's Millhouse Bar free of charge.
The eastern shores of Tacumshane Lake are less than 1km away, and can be seen from the upstairs windows of the house. Tacumshane Lake is a sedimentary lagoon with a gravel/sand barrier that supports a wide variety of plants and animals. It is one of the largest examples of a lagoon in the country. Tacumshane Lake has been designated a Special Protection Area under the E.U. Birds Directive. It is nationally important for nine bird species.
Rostoonstown Beach is 1.5km (1 mile) away. It is not suitable for swimming due to dangerous currents, but it is a long sandy beach which is part of the Wexford Coastal Walk. It is also a popular location for shore fishing with locals and holidaymakers alike. The western shores of Our Lady’s Island Lake are a popular place for windsurfing, and can also be found at Rostoonstown.
A selection of safe sandy beaches that are suitable for bathing are located within 12km (8 miles) of the property, including Carne, Rosslare Strand, and St Helens.
The fishing village of Kilmore Quay is within easy reach, being just 12km (8 miles) away. From here you can charter a fishing boat to go sea fishing, or just sample some of the catch in the local seafood restaurants, or visit the annual Seafood Festival.
There are a number of golf courses nearby, including: St Helens Bay Golf Club 10km (6 miles), Rosslare Golf Club 10km (6 miles), and Wexford Golf Club 15km (10 miles).

"Perfect for a large group of friends or family, lots of space."
I was very pleased with my choice as soon as I got there I knew it was going to work perfectly, everyone had their own space, kids had the TV room for games and puzzles as well as TV. There is a large kitchen with a huge dining room table and it was great to all cook together and laugh together and then share a meal together in the same room. I always find my family congregate in the kitchen helping or directing or tasting, BEST place to be. Everything was clean as a whistle and the house had every appliance and facility one could possibly need. Laura
