Description

2 lovely self-contained apartments one on the first floor and the other on the second floor of this traditional chalet style house. Each spacious apartment has 2 double or twin bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and living room with south facing balcony with beautiful views. You can book one apartment or both together and there are extra beds should you need them. There is a large landscaped garden to enjoy with lots of little areas to sit in. There is a 7 seater jacuzzi and a sun deck to relax on the sun loungers or eat 'al fresco'.

The house is the home of an artist and boasts hundreds of works of original art including murals and large scale paintings of copies of the 'old masters'. It is perhaps a little bit like staying in an art gallery! Drawing or painting lessons are available.

Please enquire about other possibilities for B&B or art holidays. It is possible to rent one room by arrangement.

The apartments are self catering and meals are also

The property sits at the end of a tiny hamlet with views of mountains, fields and vineyards. Yet it is only 10 mins walk from the nearest town, where there are bars, restaurants, banks, supermarkets, shops, a sports centre and a large outdoor swimming pool.

The owners are friendly and helpful and can help you arrange local activities such as, horse riding, cookery lessons from a local Italian chef or photography field trips or a tour of parmesan cheese making farm. There are festa's every weekend in the local town which we can advise on also. We also have route maps of walks and cycling suggestions.

We are within driving distance of Florence, Pisa, Parma, Bologna and Cinque Terra.

Location description from owner

The Emilia-Romagna region

Casa Appennino is in the tiny hamlet of Bedogno, high in the Appennine Mountains in the region of Emilia Romagna. In the tuscan Emilian National Park It shares a borders with the more popular region of Tuscany but is much less touristy, is absolutely unspoilt and steeped in local Italian traditions of the area. Bologna is the capital city and second only to Venice in popularity with Italians and well worth a couple of days visit. Emilia Romgana itself is called the 'gastronomic capiptal of Italy' famed for it's cuisine and speciality foods, such as Parmesan cheese, Parma ham, Balsamic vinegar, truffles, Porcini mushrooms, wines........and much much more. As there is very little active tourism it is the perfect place to immerse yourself in traditional Italian life and explore the foods, countryside, art history and culture of the area without it being 'artificial'.

Toano

The area around Casa Appennino is beautiful; well-husbanded land with amazing mountain views, clean air and lots of wild life everywhere you look. Yhere are grapevines at the back and orchards all around. The local town is only 10 minutes walk, and you will find everything you need there, from bars and restaurants to banks and supermarkets, and of course, 'market day' which is Thursday. The local people are very friendly and embrace visitors from all around the world. The food you will experience will be hand made and locally sourced. It is ideal for walking or fishing, cycling or indeed any outdoor activity. The Bismantova mountain is a classic table top feature of the area with stunning views from the top. It is also a climber's paradise with over 200 bolted routes. There is little tourism and so when you are here you will feel as if the clock has turned back. Life goes on with the same traditions of hundreds of years ago..... curing the hams, making the Parmesan, hand made pasta, collecting seasonal food....
