Horta San Juan

Picasso lived in Horta San Juan in his youth and it is the town where he started his cubism period. The centre Picasso D´Orta is a museum dedicated to Picasso´s early work and is worth visiting.

Benifallet

Benifallet has six caves two of which are open to the public: the Cova del Dos and the Cova Meravelles. In the last cave with some imagination, you can find between the eroded formations, the ¨the woman without a head¨, ¨the Cow¨, ¨the Dragon¨, ¨the Bear¨ and ¨the Brocoli¨.

Priorat

The Priorat wine route goes through a small remote beautiful region, surrounded by the Montsant system. This area has been given a D.O.Q (Denominación de Origen Controlada) in 1954and since then the Priorat wine is world famous. Now it is one of Spain´s best wine regions. The grapes grow on steep slopes up to 700 meter and the distinguishing flavour of the wine comes from the extreme temperatures during cold winters, dry summers and the slate soil.

The remote villages up high steep mountains radiate an otherworldly energy that once you visit you don´t want to leave.

Kayak on the Ebro

An ideal way to come to nature is to kayak down the river Ebro. The peaceful tempo of the kayak through the water gives you the opportunity to explore the environment in absolute serenity and safety and challenges your stamina.

In Mora d´Ebre you can hire kayaks for 1, 2 or 4 persons.

Via Verde

The literal meaning of Via Verde is Green Road. In the whole of Spain there are areas nominated as Via Verde with their own history. The walking and cycling paths have in common that all originated from disused old railway lines altered into flat surfaces. The Via Verde is forbidden to motorized vehicles and is dedicated for walkers and cyclists. The beautiful ¨Ebro Delta¨ route between Tortosa and Arnes goes through the environment of Miravet, is about a 100 kilometers long with minor differences in altitude.

Via Ferrada

Via Ferrada means ¨iron road¨ and is a parcour with steel cables with runs along cliffs. The steel clables are fixed to the cliff every 6 to 10 meters with hooks as a safety tool for the enthusiast. On the more difficult parts, apart from the steel cables you will find other support and safety tools such as iron rungs, pegs, carved steps, ladders, ropes and even bridges. The Via Ferrada combines hiking with climbing. In the mountains of Montblanc – Tarragona there are 2 Via Ferradas: Les Venes de Rojalons and La Feixa del Colom.

Mora d´Ebre

In Mora d´Ebre, at 14 kilometers of Tivissa there are tennis courts open the whole year, an indoor sport centre with swimming, squash, fittness and other activities. In Mora there are 2 times a week Pilates classes. You will also find all 3 well equipped supermarkets, small fashion shops, shoe shops, a trendy wine bar, health food shops and a hospital with excellent medical care.

Hospitalet del Infant

On 15 minutes drive you find the Golden Beaches (Costa Daurada)of Hospitalet. Most of which have been given ¨Blue Flag¨ status, that indicates that both the beaches and water are clean. Along the mainly quiet beaches you find numerous restaurants and a pleasant atmosphere.

Golf

In Vandallos and in Mont-Roig you find two 18-holes golf courses at a distance of 10 minutes.

“Magnificent Town House indeed”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2016

I had high hopes for this holiday, which isn't always good as the reality doesn't always live up to the expectations. But in this case the reality exceeded expectations. Not that there is anything wrong with the pictures of the house, they are a true reflection of how it is, but they just don't really do the property justice when you see it 'in the flesh'. Stella is an excellent host, there if you need her, virtually invisible if you don't. Not forgetting the wonderful Toy, a beast if there ever was one. Tivissa itself is a charming and very photogenic little village allowing you to unwind after the rigours of whatever you do in the day. Port Aventura is a reasonable 40 minute drive away. We followed one of Stella's recommendations and went kayaking on the Ebra, a lovely way to send a morning. If you are thinking of booking this property, go ahead a do it now, you will not be disappointed.

Colin and family It was a real pleasure to have you stay at my house. Thank you for your lovely words and hope to see you all again. Stella

“An excellent experience”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2015

An excellent experience all round, quaint Sleepy Spanish Town, beautiful countryside with many pleasant walks and some hikes. The property was clean and well-presented ample space for everyone, kitchen was large and the roof terrace an added bonus for family meals. A car is pretty much a must although there are local bus services. 20 minutes from the nearest beach 40 minutes from the old Roman city of Tarragona and all that has to offer. Port Adventura theme park a little nearer for the kids: Salou nearer still for the bigger kids. Best thing, the house was terrific great for a family or two, Excellent value for money with non-tourist prices being an other bonus!

“Wonderful Holiday”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2015

We totally enjoyed our stay in Tivissa. The town house was stunning, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The views from the terrace are amazing especially watching the full moon over the mountains while sipping a rioja. Stella was really helpful and helped to settle us in efficiently. She gave us loads of suggestions on things to do in the area including mountain walks, olive oil co-operatives and beaches. Will definintely retun again!

“I COULD'NT PRAISE THIS HOLIDAY EXPERIENCE HIGHLY ENOUGH”

Reviewed 9 Jun 2015

Tivissa is certainly not your average Spanish holiday resort; here you will experience life as the locals do. Its location is stunning being surrounded by mountains and the countryside, with opportunities for hill walkers, mountain biking, climbing or casual walkers taking in the amazing vista. The house itself is four stories high with the top two stories being used for rental. Sleeping accommodation is on the third floor which is spacious and very clean. The top floor has a large living area, open plan kitchen diner and lounge that lead onto a terrace which has those stunning views. There are three showers and w/c. Hospitality was first class. Our hostess, Mrs Curshen was very welcoming and helpful and if you are lucky she may cook for you. My stay here will be very memorable I’m sure. It is my intention to return as soon as I can.
