Description from manager

Description

Hidden away in the tiny, Wiltshire hilltop hamlet of Barker's Hill, near Semley and overlooking a wide, rolling landscape, Clematis Cottage has a very welcoming air, and the superb views from the back of the house offer a tantalising glimpse of the attractions of the area including Old Wardour Castle, visible in the distance.

Dating from the early 17th century with a 20th century extension, Clematis Cottage combines a sense of age and history with modern amenities and a feeling of space and light. Sliding glass doors from the main sitting room and the large kitchen provide access to the back garden with its spectacular views; and upstairs the bedrooms are light and attractive, one of the two doubles being particularly spacious.

Location description from manager

The England region

Tisbury

There are excellent walks and rides all round with numerous country pubs; “The Forester” in neighbouring Donhead St Andrew is within walking distance and the nearby Pythouse walled garden and cafe is also well worth a visit. The Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury is a few miles away and the cathedral city of Salisbury, and Stonehenge, are an easy drive. Other day-trip destinations are Bath, famous for its Roman baths, Georgian architecture and high quality independent shops, as well as Longleat Safari Park and the National Trust properties of Stourhead and Montacute. The New Forest National Park and the South Dorset World Heritage Coast are also well within reach.
