Location description from manager

The Scotland region

Argyll is everything you would imagine the west coast of Scotland to be – and more, making it the perfect place for your holiday. It’s wild and remote, with hills, glens, rugged coast, white beaches, sea lochs, clear waters and ancient forests. Many of our properties are in the Cowal Peninsula, known as Argyll’s Secret Coast because of its undiscovered charm. You won’t find crowds of tourists here. What you will find is wildlife, tranquillity and stunning scenery. With all this on offer, your Argyll holiday will be one to remember.

Tighnabruaich

Kames is connected to Tighnabruaich part of "Argyll's Secret Coast" and has a post office, church, police station and hotel. Tighnabruaich is a village on the Kyles of Bute in Argyll and Bute, just an hour and a half west of Glasgow, and is located along the east coast of Loch Fyne and stretching into the Kyles of Bute.

Tighnabruaich is popular for sailing and yachting and has its own sailing school. Shinty is the major sport, with the village being home to Kyles Athletic who have won more Camanachd Cups than any other team apart from Newtonmore and Kingussie.

There are a number of cycle routes posted for the area as well as signed walking routes. Tighnabruaich pier is used by the paddle steamer Waverley.

“Fantastic Cabin & Fantastic Location”

Reviewed 28 Nov 2012

Had a fantastic stay at Coal Iolla, perfectly located with great views & lots of extras in the cabin for use of both adults & kids to keep you entertained, bikes, scooters, toys games & much more if you need them. Kames Hotel was excellent as well, watched Celtic v Barcelona match there & found the locals very friendly & welcoming. I would definitely recommend Coal Iolla & the Tighnabruaich area for a fantastic holiday.
