Description from owner

Description

Cross View is an attractive, comfortably modernised cottage, which accommodates up to 6 people. It comprises a spacious lounge-dining room, well-equipped kitchen-breakfast room, two large bedrooms, bathroom, conservatory and garden.

The lounge has exposed beams and an open log fire. There is central heating throughout and all the radiators have individual thermostats, so you can adjust the heating to your personal comfort level. The bedrooms and bathroom have been refurbished in the last year.

The cottage is situated in the small peaceful village of Litton, which has a village green, a community shop and the very popular Red Lion pub. Five minutes drive away is the larger village of Tideswell. The nearest towns are Bakewell (the home of Bakewell Pudding) and Buxton, (the home of Buxton mineral water and the Buxton Opera House).

Situated in the heart of the Peak District, Litton has easy access to some of the finest walks in the Derbyshire Dales. These include Cressbrook Dale, Monsal Head, the Monsal Trail and Mam Tor.

It is a good base for sightseeing. Haddon Hall, Chatsworth and Eyam Hall are nearby. Eyam is also famous as the “Plague Village.” Castleton is known for its caves and the blue john stone mined there.

For children, Alton Towers is accessible for a day trip.

Throughout the summer, the Derbyshire Well Dressings are an essential part of every holiday.

“Great place to stay at with a group of friends”

Reviewed 28 May 2019

Litton is a nice little village in walking distance to Tideswell. The Cross View cottage is a fantastic place to stay at with a large group of friends. The interior is modern and the kitchen offers anything you need. We'll visit again!

“Warm and cosy”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2019

Booked at the last minute after poor service from a local company. The cottage was ideal for our short break and close to lots of lovely walks. 2 adults, 3 teenagers and a dog stayed here so it was a tight squeeze with the sofa bed in the double room. Constant hot water and a central heating system with access to the controls, along with an open fire were a definite bonus. The upstairs TV didn’t work and milk and tea bags weren’t left as advertised, but the little shop was still open so no major problem.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your 4 bubble review. I'm glad you had a good break and found the cottage comfortable. Many apologies for the missing milk and tea bags and for the upstairs TV not working. Guest can always text me with any problems and I'll do my best to sort them out straightaway - you probably didn't want to cause any bother, but I really don't mind. We have another sofa bed in the lounge. Thanks again for taking the time to review Cross View.

“Winter escape”

Reviewed 12 Feb 2018

We arrived in rain left in snow but that didn't detract from a nice relaxing weekend in a lovely cottage. The cottage has everything you need and the information provided by the owner was very useful. It's a great location with a great village pub. Would definitely go again, ideally in better weather.

Owner's reply: So glad you enjoyed your stay - despite the weather. Do come again!

“Super Cottage”

Fabulous cottage. Went with 3 adults, 2 children and a small dog. Plenty of room in the spacious cottage. Beautiful village with a lovely pub serving quality food and dog friendly. Would recommend to anyone

Owner's reply: Thanks for the review, Simon. I'm glad you all had a good time. I was in the Red Lion, the pub across the road last week, enjoying their great food. Hope you'll visit again. Caroline.

“Fantastic cottage, will definitely be visiting again!”

Reviewed 27 Mar 2017

We booked this cottage as a base for a walking break (5 mums needing some peace and quiet) and upon arriving at the cottage we were overjoyed! It is very 'home from home' and had everything you could think of....and more. The house and contents were all very clean and in excellent condition. Having the open fire was a fantastic addition to such a beautiful holiday home. Across the road from the local pub was very welcoming and served lovely food. There are great walks from the cottage and it's not too far to drive to other great places for walking including Hope, Castleton and Mam Tor. We had such a great, relaxing time in the cottage and will definitely come back! Thanks

“Lovely home from home in a peaceful village”

Reviewed 5 Jun 2013

We stayed for a week in Cross View with 2 children, a teenager and 2 dogs. The cottage is comfortable and the owner provides everything you need (including bedding, towels, washing up liquid, even dishwasher tablets) we were very impressed. It has a small garden, which was lovely to sit in after a day walking the monsal trail. The village itself is small with just one shop/post office but it was a pleasant 20 minute walk into Tideswell for a bit more choice. I would recommend the cottage and hope to go back sometime.
