Location description from owner

The Yorkshire region

Beautiful Yorkshire village in the NY Moors National Park great for coast, moor, York, Flamingoland, Whitby, Scarborough, Pickering and more. Something for everyone in one of the UK's most loved, characterful and unspoilt counties that also has many major tourist attractions (heritage railway, Castle Howard, theme parks, York's history, sandy beaches, etc).

Thornton-Le-Dale

One of the National Parks most famous villages near to the Great Yorkshire Forest of Dalby. Picture postcard village with plenty of pubs, cafes, walks, amenities and open space. The bungalow is off a small private track and enjoys a great deal of seclusion and no overlooking into the south facing French doors of the lounge and dining kitchen, which are relatively open plan.. It is handily near to the village centre and a stones throw from the children's playpark.

“Weekend away”

Reviewed 12 Dec 2016

Really clean and cosy cottage me and my partner spent the weekend here, loads of places to visit and the pub down the road was perfect with an open fire and tasty food. Situated down a small lane out of the way from civilisation, when we arrived we was welcomed with a cute welcome basket. Our only complaint we could think of was that we couldn't stay longer due to having to go back to work Monday :( definitely worth recommending :)

Thank you for your great review. We are really pleased you enjoyed your weekend away and managed to vist one of our excellent local pubs! Hopefully you will be able to stay longer next time!

“Very comfortable home from home”

Reviewed 30 Nov 2016

Very happy staying in this warm, well-equipped cottage whilst working in the area. Re-booked and have tried to book again since. Spacious main bedroom and smaller double bunk bedroom were very comfortable. Very quiet lane and private garden and patio ideal for spilling out onto in warm weather. Quick walk into village. Will book again without hesitation. Oh, and generous welcome wine and treats much appreciated.

Thank you for your wonderful review Andrew. We are really pleased you were happy with the cottage and it was a comfortable base whilst you were at work in the area. If we can help with anything in the future just let us know.

“Beautiful cottage located in the centre of the most picturesque village in Yorkshire”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2016

The cottage was very well equipped and furnished. The kitchen had lots of utensils and was well fitted out. The cottage was very warm and cosy and in warmer weather 2 large french doors went straight out onto an enclosed garden and pleasant patio with garden furniture. Ample parking for 2 cars. Cottage would be suitable for the less mobile as it is all on one level with no steps. Master bedroom was very large and again very well furnished although the second bedroom was slightly small for a second double bed. Located conveniently 2 minutes walk from all the central amenities of Thornton-le-dale village including several pubs, newsagents and craft bakery. Lots of local walks right from the front door. Overall an excellent base to tour the Yorkshire Moors.

“Great place to stay”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2016

This cottage was perfectly presented with all mod-cons. The enclosed garden made you feel that you were in the countryside and not in a village centre. It allowed us the comfort to know it was safe to let our dog have the freedom of the outside space. The cottage was just a minute or so walk from the village cenrte and its pubs, shops and the starting places for many walks. Couldn't have asked for any more.......................give it a go!

“Beautiful house in excellent location”

Reviewed 21 Aug 2016

We stayed for one week and cannot fault the accommodation. We found it to be very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The second bedroom is small but offers flexible sleeping arrangements. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and enjoyed by all. The house is in a fantastic location in Thornton Le Dale which is very pretty and for a small village it has a lot to enjoy. We ate in both pubs and had breakfast in Baldersons....I would recommend to reserve a table in the New Inn as it was very busy when we were there. We visited Scarbourough, Eden Camp, Dalby forest and Go Ape, Pickering, The Lavender Gardens, York, Goathland ( Aidensfield) and train station (Hogsmead station, Harry Potter) We would have been happy to stay longer a visit more of the area. I would definitely recommend this accommodation if looking to explore the Yorkshire area.

“A very well appointed cottage with an excellent enclosed garden that is not overlooked.”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2016

The rating would definitely have been a 5 if the second bedroom had been a little bigger. We were a party of four adults and a dog. The master bedroom was excellent but the second bedroom was quite cramped with a double bed with a ski le bunk above. This would have been ideal for children but we found it a bit of a squeeze. The cottage itself is immaculately clean with high end furnishings. The kitchen is very well appointed with a dishwasher and more than enough utensils and crockery . The welcome hamper with a bottle of pro secco, chocolate , bread, biscuits, teabags, crisps and strawberries and milk in the fridge was a really nice touch. The enclosed private garden was really nice with a table and 6 chairs on the patio. As it was an unusually warm weekend we could sit on the patio with the French doors open enjoying a glass of vino was just the ticket. The setting down a narrow lane gave the cottage an away from it all feel whilst being only a few hundred yards from the village centre with two good pubs and the Lavender Coffee shop. We also believe there is an excellent restaurant and take away chip shop also equally close but we didn't have time to sample these.
