Location description from owner

The England region

Thorness Bay is set in a quiet wooded area overlooking the Solent, with a short stroll to the private beach which is set in a conservation area - the perfect setting for a relaxing escape.

Thorness Bay

The Isle of Wight has many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a wealth of footpaths and bridleways and with more footpaths per square mile than any other English county - from a 60 mile coastal path, to easy circular routes, and short town trails - there are over 500 miles of well maintained paths.

The Island is an ideal place for a cycling holiday offering dedicated cycleways - many following the course of disused railway lines, signed routes, miles of bridleways and quiet country lanes as an alternative to busy main roads.

For the family there are two theme parks (Blackgang Chine and Robin Hill), Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House, Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Robin Hill Adventure Park, Blackgang Chine Theme Park, Alum Bay Isle of Wight Lavendar Farm, Owl and Monkey Haven, Amazon World, Isle of Wight Zoo, Rare Breeds and Waterfowl Park, LA Bowl - Ten Pin Bowling

Park facilities include an indoor pool* complex with slides, along with amusements and many indoor activities (including WIFI), and outside there are sports courts and adventurer playgrounds etc.

There is a huge entertainment program* for all ages, theme party nights, talent shows, games etc., local bands and cabaret nights. Or if you prefer you can sit on the boathouse restaurant deck and just relax with a drink enjoying the views over the Solent.

The Park also has a Parkmart shop* and a launderette*.

*All Park facilities operate from Easter to the end of October only. Free WIFI is available in The Boathouse Bar. WIFI is available on the rest of the Park for a daily fee, please ask Reception on arrival.

“Ideal location for family break”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2015

Well equipped and comfortable caravan, nice location with views of the solent. Central site location with good vehicle access. Close to shop, bar, pool, and entertainment. We were a group of five with a 90 and 87 year old both in wheel chairs all over 60 all had a great time.

“Great Find”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2015

Trying to find accommodation on the Isle of Wight turned out to be a nightmare with everything having either gone or was extremely expensive. At the last minute we found this great little place which was a bargain. There were 6 of us all together, 4 adults and 2 kids, and we there for 2 nights over a weekend. The caravan was incredibly clean and tidy with fresh towels and linen in every room. It was also kitted out with a TV and Sky, a few games for the kids and enough kitchen utensils to allow us to cook every day without any issues. The location was also great as it was a short walk from the entertainment area, pool and beach so we didn’t have to trek too far with the kids. The only downside for me was that the single beds were tiny so I was not able to sleep in them however the double bed in the main room was big enough and was very comfortable. I am 6ft and broad so am unlikely to fit in any caravan single bed so it is definitely not something the owner could have changed however it is just something to keep in mind if there are a few of you staying who are tall/broad. All in all we had a great weekend and would definitely stay there again.

“Fantastic caravan. Very pleased & would recommend to others.”

Lovely van, very clean & has everything you can think of. Towels toilet rolls cleaning products foil cling film tea towels. All you need to bring is yourself & clothes. There is even tea coffee sugar & milk on arrival. Very happy with our stay.

“an excellent mobile home fully equipped exceptionally clean no faults found in any aspect”

Reviewed 28 May 2015

An excellent family holiday was well equipped perfect location quiet site as stated would recommend to all age groups and owner very helpful in all aspects

“lovely break”

Reviewed 15 May 2015

Very spacious and well kept, the little extras were very helpful. The double mattress was a bit soft and the bed would benefit from a memory foam one. Obviously the owner has no control on other camp users and we had some noisy people around us, children running up and down in caravan nearby till quite late, people with TVs loud until early hours and people talking loudly outside until after midnight. Yes I know that's one of the flaws of caravan holidays but consideration for others costs nothing. That said the booking process and the caravan itself were excellent.

“A charming experience”

Reviewed 18 Feb 2015

The Salisbury was a wonderful place to stay, it was well equipped with utensils, tea equipment and more. The living area was great with sky tv and a charming little electric fire place which gives the property great character. The rooms were nice and location great, it was just a 2 minute walk to the beach and other town centres are a short drive away. Would recommend this property. Also thanks to the owner; Helen has a great little place and was very helpful.

“Comfortable, modern caravan on a large wooded holiday park”

Reviewed 25 Nov 2014

Stayed for a very wet weekend in November so didn't get the full benefit of the park, but the caravan is cosy, well appointed and generally well equipped. The full gas central heating and instant hot water were welcome and everything was spotless (apart from the saucepans, which were a bit yucky). The description was accurate, except that there was no TV in the main bedroom. The bedding and towels were of good quality, clean and adequate. Tea, coffee, milk and so on were all provided as promised. Our damage deposit was returned promptly. One small disappointment with the park management was that our University student son was refused permission to use the park's internet connection very briefly to enable him to download some documents that he had forgotten to bring with him in order to complete an assignment.

“October good time”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2014

We stayed here only for 2 nights and we had a good time, the place is clean, comfortable and enough space for the 5 of us! Next time we'll stay longer..

“Lovely Caravan”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2014

Just got home from a short stay at The Salisbury We found it very clean, nicely decorated well stocked withutensils and crockery. Bedding was immaculate as was towels We would like to thank Helen for providing the milk tea coffee sugar, after a 7 hour journey with 4 year twins and a 7 year old in the car the first thing I needed was a cup of tea. Can't really comment on the park facilities has we didn't use them but it was kept clean and tidy.

“Nothing short of perfect”

Reviewed 17 Jun 2014

Everything from the communications you get to the phone call the night before arrival. Happy to review that this place is simply great. The caravan itself is on a great pitch just a few minutes walk from the entertainment area. Inside, you really can tell how well it is being managed. The bedrooms are all well equipped and the bedding clean and modern. The ensuite bathroom is a good size, nicely laid out and the shower was hot and powerful. The separate toilet is a nice touch. The kitchen is large and I'd be happy to cook for the family in there. We didn't get to use it other than a single light bight but it looked very well equipped and everything was modern. The front room is just as good, the TV having Sky HD is brilliant. The front room furniture is modern and again very clean. So in summary - what a place. Everything is exceptionally very well looked after. The towels, bedding and furniture are very clean and of great quality and the place looks every bit as a good as it should. Throw in the little bits on arrival like milk, coffee and washing up liquid and this is a caravan unlike many others. You won't be sorry if you choose to stay here.
