The New South Wales region
The Illawarra region is conveniently close to Sydney but has its own character dominated by wonderful beaches and the escarpment. Wollongong, with a population of around 200,000 is the commercial centre. South of Wollongong there are more scenic drives and wineries. Crooked River is one we recommend. It is also an easy day trip to the southern highlands and Blue Mountains.
