The large bathroom has a separate bath and powerful shower, heated towel radiator and shaver point.

The dining kitchen has a dining table and chairs to comfortably sit 6 people. There is a fridge freezer, oven & hob, microwave and washing machine. There is a clothes airer, iron and ironing board.

Pets are not allowed in the bedrooms and must be kept off furniture. We expect dog mess in the gardens to be cleared up as it occurs.

Outside the cottage there is a private patio garden for your sole use and also mature gardens and access to the river, shared with Colterscleuch House (owners live there and are available should you need anything at all)

All bed linen, towels, fuel and unlimited WiFi are included in the price.

There are many outdoor activities in the area including walking, cycling (off road in particular), horse riding, golfing, fishing, shooting and great roads for motorcyclists to enjoy. The Scottish Borders have a centuries long and exciting history. You can discover it at the many museums, historical buildings & houses and annual events. If you like shopping, the Borders towns have fantastic independant shops and the textile mills and shops have the best knitwear and cashmere you'll find, often at bargain prices too.

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

The Scottish Borders is beautiful area steeped in history & culture and each town has it's own story to tell.

There is something for everyone here: picturesque towns and villages; the best cashmere & knitwear you can find; stately homes, museums, castles & keeps; abbeys; walking, horse riding, golfing, fishing, shooting; cycling (including amazing off road trails) and great roads for motorbikes. And miles of peaceful countryside if you just want to relax and take time out!

There are festivals all year round. Some of the most famous are the Border Common Ridings which take place each summer. This historic event dates back centuries and is still the main event of the year in each town. The people of the towns take to horseback and ride the borders of each area, just as they did many years ago when they kept them safe and secure from neighbouring theives of livestock and land.

Teviothead

Colterscleuch is set in the quiet Teviot Valley. We are just 7 miles (10 minute drive) from Hawick, however the feeling is a very rural one, set in amongst thriving farmland and with the Teviot River at our back door.

It's a great area for walking and has terrain to suit all abilities. There are also some of the best off road cycling routes close by, again with something to suit all levels of experience. Horse riding and hacks can be booked at one of the most prestigious stables in the UK. Run by Ian Stark, the set up at Dryden is most impressive and will not fail to please most riding fans.

We are pet friendly and welcome well behaved owners and their dogs. We have large gardens and areas for dogs to run around, as well as access to the river for a swim. There are beautiful walks all around us and most canine visitors have a wonderful time.

House rules

We welcome well behaved owners with their pets (max 2 dogs). Pets must be fully house trained, they are not allowed on any furniture and must be kept out of the bedrooms.
Young children and pets should be supervised when playing outside as the gardens are not fully enclosed. We are close to the A7 road.
The River Teviot runs along the back of the property and it's great fun to splash around when the water is low. Children and pets must be supervised at all times when at the river.
