As this used to be our home, the house is very well equipped and really is a 'home away from home'. The modern fitted kitchen is open plan and has plenty of space to prepare the superb local food. It has a granite work top and also has a separate utility room with washing machine. The large lounge has a woodburner for those early Spring and late Autumn evenings but the rest of the year the air conditioning throughout is a must. All windows and doors also have fly screens, which is invaluable during the hottest months.Upstairs you'll find another small terrace which is perfect for that morning cup of coffee while you watch the incredible sunrises, or with a glass of something stronger while watching the sun go down - either way you'll never forget the sky at night as the lack of light pollution means you can clearly see the Milky Way go over head and shooting stars are a daily occurrence. The beautiful port of Almeria is only an hour away, while Alicante and Granada are just 2 hours aways. Granada is most famous for it's medieval architecture dating to the Moorish occupation of Spain. It's best known for the Alhambra - a sprawling hilltop fortress complex encompassing royal palaces, serene patios and reflecting pools from the Nasrid dynasty, as well as the fountains and orchards of the gardens. Well worth a day trip. Also located nearby is Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park which is Andalucia's largest coastal protected area. It boasts a wild and isolated landscape with some of Europe's most original geological features. It is the only region in Europe with a warm desert climate. It is characterised by volcanic rock formations, lava flows, volcanic domes and volcanic calderas. The park joined UNESCO's Global Geoparks Network in 2006, and is also a member of the European Geoparks Network. This is well worth a visit and is only an hour away. The Sierra Var Nevada is approximately 1 hours drive away, outdoor pursuits include hiking, horse riding, walking and a must-visit trip to the Tabernas Desert where mini Hollywood and Zoo is situated, where Clint Eastwood, Indiana Jones and the Lawrence of Arabia were filmed. A highly recommended great day out for all the family. With shows, gunslingers, cancan girls, Restaurants and a Saloon bar. The Caves of Sorbas are located in the Gypsum Karst Natural Park of Sorbas, a landscape of surface and underground rock formations, which was declared a Natural Area of Protection 1989. The caves can be visited on guided excursions and offer a thrilling destination for a day trip in Almeria - a perfect place to go on the really hot days as the temperature inside the caves stays lovely and cool.Of the three karting circuits in the province of Almeria, the ones situated in El Ejido and Roquetas are the two largest. There are two water parks in Almeria province, Parque Acuatico - Vera Playa and Mario Park - Roquetas de Mar. Both are open throughout the summer holiday season. If you're into nature walks, horse riding or water sports, then why not head 1.5 hours north west to the enormous natural reservoir of Embalse de Negratín near Baza...a truly stunning spot for all the family. You're also not that far from Sierra de Baza Natural Park which is also a twitchers paradise. Its central part is made up of remote, jagged limestone peaks, which can be snow covered for some of the winter and are inhabited by majestic birds of prey, like the golden eagle and another nine species of raptors, like the short-toed eagles, booted eagles, Egyptian vultures, peregrines, kestrels and eagle owls. In the cultivated fields are hoopoes, crested larks and red-legged partridges. Woodpeckers and turtle doves are in the wooded areas. All in all you will not be disappointed with Casa Arcos.

- Very Good
“It was everything we hoped it would be.”
The pool was excellent. The wifi and air conditioning worked. The house was spacious, clean and comfortable. The maintenance couple were extremely helpful about places to see, advice on beaches for the young children (3 and 5) and local eateries. We spent two weeks, one of them with my daughter and two young children and everyone agreed it was everything we hoped it would be. We were closer to the neighbouring locals than we expected, but having said that, we never saw them and it did not stop us being private and able to play our music. Star gazing was as Richard said. Thank you for a lovely holiday.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review Sally. I'm so happy you enjoyed my villa, and hope to see you again, best wishes, Roland
