The Tuscany region
Tuscany is already famous for it's history, landscape, food art and relaxed style. This northern area is the real deal, and you should visit Tereglio to experience the natural beauty of a medieval hilltop town nestled amongst lush chestnut forests in the Apennine hills.
Here you can explore the unspoilt and authentic Valley of the Serchio River and Garfagnana regions and easily visit Lucca, Florence and Pisa. Abetone ski resort is close by, a little further and you're at the coast with Viareggio and the Cinque Terre.
The valley of the Serchio River, between the Alpi Apuane and Appennino Tosco-Emiliano is full of naturalistic treasures and it is the ideal environment for those who want to live in direct contact with nature and enjoy a traditional lifestyle whilst also experiencing the finest italian style, food and culture. Please visit www.casa-artista.com/map for a detailed view of our local area including the abundant walking routes and close proximity to the Orrido di Botri gorge.
Tereglio has a butcher, deli, post office, shop, bar/pizzeria and restaurant. I have stayed up in the town happily for weeks!
Bagni di Lucca is a short drive or bus ride away, here you will find many great restaurants, bars, shops, swimming pool, gelaterias etc
Northwards up the valley you can visit lots of medieval towns in the Garfagnana and Lucca, a very special walled city is a short drive to the south. Tereglio is in a great location for exploring all the best this fantastic region has to offer.

"full of inspirational rustic charm"
We loved the house and the area. There was plenty to do and it turned out to be a superb spot for exploring Tuscany by car. We made many trips to Florence, Monte Catini, La Spezia and the Cinque Terre. More often we would go to Pisa and to Lucca, which was our favorite place to go with lots of art, architecture and shopping. The swimming pool in the closest town, Bagni di Lucca, is also great for relaxing days. During our stay in April it was a little cold in the evenings but there is an open fire and comfortable furniture in the large kitchen which was fantastic to relax in. we liked going to get fresh bread and produce from the village shop and local bar which are very run by friendly and chatty locals. Overall we feel that this was a great choice for our holiday.
Fully centrally heated with radiators throughout. Casa Artista is a warm property all year, in addition to the open fire, the modern heating system heats rooms quickly and provides instant hot water.
