The Abruzzo region
Abruzzo is a region in central Italy, its western border lying less than 50 miles (80 km) east of Rome, stretching from the heart of the Apennines to the Adriatic Sea.
Coast is manly covered with golden thinest sand and bathed by clear sea. Along coastline there are many seaside resort, like Vasto, Ortona Pineto, Roseto Degli Abruzzi, Giulianova, Tortoreto, Alba Adriatica, Pescara and many more, those offers services like furnished beaches, sunny boardwolks, cycling lanes, many shops and nightspots.
The mountainous inland is occupied by a vast plateau, the highest peaks of which are the Gran Sasso (2,912 m) and Mount Majella (2,793 m). In the midst of mountains there are many medieval hamlets, like Chieti, Atri, Civitella del Tronto, Città sant'Angelo, Civitella Alfedena, Colonnella, Pescocostanzo, Pietracamela, Rocca Pia e Roccamorice, which can be visited by car and offers medieval churches, castles and walls. There are also many big roman ruins, like Amiternum and Alba Fucens and roman structures in Teramo, Chieti and L'Aquila. Abruzzo hauses the biggest national parks, Parco del Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga, parco Nazionale d' Abruzzo e Monti Sibillini, visitables with expert guides and guided tours.
Abruzzo is also renowned for cookery, with typical dishes and wines. Indeed there are many agritourisms well-distributed in Abruzzo's area. There are country festivals for typical food and wine in many villages, especially in summer.
Nearby there are several villages of historic or scenic interest. Some are famous for their gastronomic activities, others for its ceramics (Castelli) or ancient manufacturing jobs.
In addition to Teramo (Necropolis Paleolithic, Roman houses, Roman amphitheater and cathedral in 1200) also in Canzano you can admire a church in 1200, to Montegualtieri one of the three triangular towers in Europe.
Atri gives us, in addition to the historical and landscape, including the tasting of licorice.
We are located 20 minutes from the popular seaside resort of Roseto degli Abruzzi, 30 minutes from the ski slopes. We are on the edge of one of the richest areas of natural parks of Italy (National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park of Abruzzo National Park of Monti Sibillini) all communicating with each other.
