Location description from manager

The Wales region

Penally is a small quaint village overlooking Tenby Golf Links, the South Beach dunes and Caldey Island, as is literally only a few minutes drive from Tenby town centre. The classic links course is renowned for its natural rolling terrain, superb fast, true greens and spectacular sea views...and is listed as the 8th best course in Wales!

Tenby is probably the prettiest seaside town in Wales, rivalling places like Mevagissey and Polperro for quaintness and charm. The original town of Tenby, called Dinbych y Pysgod in Welsh or "little town of fishes", was established by The Normans as a fortified town. Most of the old town walls remain, enclosing the medieval town behind them. The castle that defended Tenby was built on Castle Hill but only one small keep tower remains of that.

The classic postcard view of Tenby harbour is from The Norton, a road that runs along the cliff top above North Beach. You can find several good hotels here. Several of the old hotels hereabouts were converted to self catering flats.

Tenby

Regular boat trips run from Tenby harbour to Caldey Island when the tide is in. When the tide is out, the harbour is dry, so a pontoon off Castle Beach is used. Caldey Island was designated as a conservation area by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in 1997. Fun boats and pedal boats can be hired from Tenby Marine at the harbour or mackerel fishing trips, paragliding trips and banana boats are available too.

Tenby has 3 Bue Flag beaches, North Beach faces east and is nicely sheltered if the prevailing south westerly wind is blowing. Castle Beach faces south and also has high cliffs backing it, while South Beach stretches uninterrupted for a mile to Giltar Point and is perfect for all sorts of beach games like volleyball. In between North Beach and Castle Beach is the picturesque harbour, which also has a sandy beach. The harbour is clean so is a good place for toddlers.

“Great location .Great find.”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2014

We stayed here for a 5 night break in april. It is a great flat with everything we could have wanted including the cork screw that always seem to be missing when you arrive and need it after a long journey ! The train station is directly opposite and the bus stop is about 100 yards from the front door . Both take you to tenby as well as other towns for days out. A walk along the beach to tenby is lovely on a nice day but we did get a taxi back ! If you want tp get away from everything , park up the car and relax it is perfect. There is so much to do in the area and it was nice to come back at the end of a busy day to the flat. There is a lovely pub opposite if you want a drink we didnt eat there but the menu looked good and they were very welcoming. Kate from holiday connections helped us to find this flat and we were very grateful for her help she really found us exactly what we wanted . We will be back.

“A Scenic, Comfortable and Spacious Apartment that caters for your every need.”

Myself, my husband and two children, aged 12 and 8 stayed here over the Bank Holiday. We enjoyed every moment of this hidden gem. The apartment is set in the quaint village of Penally, which has a local shop selling fresh essentials at very reasonable prices and a pub that is welcoming to children and serves good food.We also stumbled on a mobile fish and chip van! The apartment itself is clean, airy and spacious with a fresh contemporary feel. What I loved was the fantastic view from the living space giving it an incredibly relaxed vibe . It is also one of the best equipped apartments I have stayed. The hidden dishwasher was a special surprise! Straight across from the property is the beach where within a 20 min walk you are in the heart of Tenby. Only wished we we had stayed longer. That's for next time!!

“Lovely flat, warm, modern, comfortable and the views were fantastic!”

We stayed in at St Catherine's in January for a long weekend. The flat was very bright and airy and had everything we needed to feel at home. It was clean and tidy as you would expect. and warm and comfortable. The views across Tenby and Caldey Island made the weekend. Penally is a lovely village with a nice local pub and village shop. It was handy to have a railway station so close which we used to get to Manobier and walk back to the flat. Very easy access to the South Beach, Tenby and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, We will return.

“All on your doorstep”

A beautiful apartment with a fantastic view from a floor to ceiling window. Had a really relaxing time there with a short walk into Tenby or over the golf course to the coastal walk. It's close enough to the main road for easy access while being far enough away to not hear the traffic. We did everything we wanted from drives, walks, beautiful meals. An ideal place to just relax and forget about the daily grind

“Suberb relaxing holiday in excellent accommodation.”

The apartment was excellent. Everything was there we only needed to take towels. Gorgeous view of the island, tenby and the sea. Just like a home from home. A minute walk to the train station, short drive into tenby although the walk along the beach to tenby is beautiful. Booking was really easy and kate was extremely helpful, answering any emails promptly. Would recommend to anyone. Great holiday.
