The wealth and pomp of Empire shines through in this Victorian Gothic wedding cake of a building. Constructed in 1857 as a Divisional Magistrates' Court and Police Station, Nancy, and an army of specialist craftsmen, have now given the building considerable chic!
The Magistrates' Court, a magnificent baronial room nearly fifty foot long and almost as tall, is approached via a grand entrance hall and sweeping staircase designed originally for the dignitaries – the public still has an outside stairway and the felons came up from the nether regions by a dank stone stair which still emerges through a trapdoor
The Old Court is available self-catering or fully serviced with meals even arranging parties in the courtroom on your behalf. We also allow the family pet to come along too!
The house has been modernised throughout yet retains its original features. Relax in the beautiful courtroom reception with a large open fire, play the concert grand piano or move to the large screen HD room where there is an open bar and comfortable seating. Enjoy the outside patio and walled gardens offering privacy throughout.
This amazing property retains original features throughout and has a sauna & jacuzzis, gym, power showers, satellite TV andwi-fi.
The property has an award for excellence on TripAdvisor and will be appearing on the popular Channel 4 programme "4 in a bed" from 31st October 2011 all week from 5 pm

The Somerset region
The West Country - the counties of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset - enjoys a milder climate than much of England, and consequently Cornwall has long been a popular summer getaway. The area provides the best surfing in England, with towns like Newquay, Bude and Croyde filling with enthusiasts every year. There is excellent walking on Bodmin Moor, domain of the legendary beast, and the coastline is wild and beautiful.
There are scenic towns such as Penzance to explore and delicious Cornish pasties to sample. The area also has Celtic links and the legend of King Arthur came from here. It is easy to see where the myths of this area spring from, with the Bronze Age remains and standing stones which still dot the landscape. The Roman city of Bath and seaside resorts of Torquay and Bournemouth are great holiday destinations....
Somerset is England’s farm, an agricultural region known for its Cheddar cheese and cider. It receives fewer visitors than its westerly neighbours, and there are hidden delights to be found in this area. The area is perfect for cycling with a network of country lanes and fewer slopes than the more rugged west. Bath has always been a fashionable resort, noted for its curative springs for centuries. The town’s beginnings are prehistoric; it was an important spa for the Romans and a fashionable resort in the 18th century.
Located in the countryside with fabulous walks at your doorstep and a pub nearby to quench your thirst yet central to visiting Bath/ Wells/ Bristol / Shepton Mallet.
Within a 5 minute drive of a golf course or horse riding and great restaurants within walking distance. For the avid reader just down the hill you will find the largest second hand book barn in England.
Visit nearby Cheddar Gorge & Wookey Hole Caves or go a little further afield to Longleat Safari Park & Stonehenge.
Bath is an exquisite Georgian city. The Royal Crescent, The Circus, Pump Room and Pulteney Bridge are among the finest architectural treasures in the world. The entire city has been designated a World Heritage Site.
Children are well catered for, with a huge choice of parks with cycle paths and play areas. Bath and the surrounding countryside offer many varied activities such as golf, fishing, watersports, horseriding, as well as diverse cycling and walking trails.

I hired two of the three floors of The Old Court for my best friend's hen weekend, and armed with 16 other girls we had a fantastic time! The Old Court is magnificent, huge rooms, very comfy beds and sofa beds, 4 staircases, it was fun finding our way round! It's full of character, with two huge rooms upstairs for eating and drinking (one complete with stained glass windows), lovely bedrooms and en suites, a Jacuzzi and sauna, and plenty of hot water (very important - believe me I've been on hen do's with cold water!). We did all the catering for the weekend and the kitchen had every utensil/pot/pan/serving dishes we could wish for. There's a lovely walled garden outside, and plenty of parking if we all squidged in (we had 11 cars). We looked after the animals for the weekend too - the dogs are huge cuddly bears and the cats are sweet too. Sadly we couldn't meet the owner, Nancy, but she is lovely to deal with and very easy going, and we had Matt on hand for any questions. I fully recommend The Old Court.

"Truly amazing accomodation for a great weekend away with friends and family"
The Old Court house was the most remarkable of accomodation, lovelingly restored and beautifully furnished. Our suprise birthday party with friends and family was made so much enjoyable by the great use of the reception rooms. We had 23 adults in our group which was maximum for the bedrooms/beds, but you could easily fit another 5-6 children within the accomodation. The quirkiness of the bedrooms will always be remembered. Nancy and her staff where a great help in arranging all the little bits which make for a great stay.
